It is plowed by the town of Bovina Center but will still have potholes so drive carefully. The driveway to the cabin is UPHILL. 4WD or AWD vehicles are necessary. If you are unfamiliar with driving in the snow, particularly uphill, search online for tips. Sites like AAA have good information. The driveway is plowed and shoveled to the entrance. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay. The house is in an area with no cell service. Turn on Wifi Calling from your cell phone settings to make and receive phone calls. For a smooth arrival, make sure to write down arrival instructions before traveling so you have the address, door code, WiFi and contact information. The full sized bed is in the loft. Guests must be able to climb a metal ladder. The cabin may not be suitable for young children and infants as the bed is up a ladder in the loft but the daybed is a narrow twin so a child can sleep on the main floor. The fireplace does not have a gate around it. There are no curtains, we love the view! If you are sensitive to sunlight in the morning we recommend a sleeping mask. WILDLIFE: The cabin is in the country where nature lives. Common animals in NYS include deer, fox, rabbit, coyote, bobcat, bear, skunks, porcupines, and raccoons. Visit the NYS DEC website to familiarize yourself with what animals live in NYS and how to avoid animal encounters. WINTER: October through April when snow and ice are likely, guests should have either winter tires or all season tires. Check the weather before arrival and plan your trip accordingly. If you are unfamiliar with driving in snow look for tips online at sources like AAA. The driveway is plowed, maintained and shoveled to the door. A shovel is provided for you so you can maintain a safe walkway during your stay. HUNTING SEASON - We do not host to groups that are visiting for hunting season. There is no hunting on the land and while we are near state land, we do not allow firearms on the property. This cabin is best for small families, groups of friends of couples looking to get away from it all and is not appointed for hunting parties. If we determine that your party is hunting there will be an immediate termination of the reservation with no refund of unused time.
