Our Streamside Victorian is the perfect retreat for those who want creature comforts, fine architecture and a carefully appointed home surrounded by the beauty of the Catskills. There is a spacious office with an electric standing desk and strong wifi for those who would like to work remotely. The home features a curated mix of modern comfort and stylish design in a classic Queen Anne Victorian. Located in the village of Margaretville, NY and only two blocks from Main Street. The expansive house has a formal dining room, den, living room, two bathrooms and four bedrooms. A gracious side garden with fire pit for entertaining complement the homes charm and warmth. High speed fiber internet is provided by Margaretville Telephone Company and is 100mbps, perfect for working remotely! Entry: A formal entry greets you. You'll find a comfortable place to remove your shoes and a place to hang your coats. Front Stairs: In the entry there is a formal set of stairs with one set, a landing then the remaining steps. Living Room: To the right of the entry, a comfortable living room looks to the front of the house. There is a TV for streaming your favorite shows. The living room is also open to the den. Den: The den is between the living room and kitchen. It features a wood stove, cozy seating and has a pass through counter to the kitchen. The den is also connected to the dining room. Dining Room: A spacious dining table and buffet create a pleasant spot for all meals. It is located off the kitchen and den and looks out onto the side yard. Kitchen: The kitchen is at the back of the house and has a door to the side porch and right side lawn. You can park on the street just off the kitchen, making it easy to bring in the groceries. A fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher are available as well as everything you need to prepare and service meals. Full Bathroom: The full bathroom is just off the kitchen and has a tub/shower combo. Basement: The washer and dryer are located in the basement. The door to the basement is in the kitchen. Back Stairs: Just off the kitchen there is a back stairway. These stairs lead to the office. There is one set of stairs, a landing which leads to the office, then another set of stairs that take you to the second floor. Office: In the back left side of the house there is an expansive office with wood stove. A queen sized bed is available for larger groups. There is an additional fee for guests over 8. Upstairs Bathroom: The upstairs bathroom is located at the back of the house and has a tub. Note that it is not a shower, just a tub. Bedroom 1: Located at the back, right side of the house is a bedroom with full bed. Bedroom 2: Located at the middle right side of the house, this bedroom has a queen bed. Bedroom 3: Bedroom 3 is in the middle left side of the house and features a queen bed. Bedroom 4: This bedroom is located at the front right side of the home, has a queen bed, sunroom and is connected to Bedroom 2. Outside: The front of the home has a wrap around, covered porch with dining table and seating. On the left side of the house is a lawn with fire pit and garden area. The right side of the home has a small side porch leading to the kitchen and a BBQ area. The back of the home is located on a small brook. There is a wall and drop of about 4 feet to the brook. Driveway: The driveway can comfortably fit 2 vehicles. Additional parking is available on the side street next to the house (not in winter). Note: Items in the house may differ slightly from the pictures if any redecorating was done. History buffs will love the vintage characteristics of this immaculately kept historic home. Groups of family and friends will enjoy the spaciousness of the house with its double staircases, multiple nooks and outdoor areas. In a rural village setting but close to conveniences, Streamside will make everyone in your group fall in love. Streamside is located in the village of Margaretville, NY. Main Street’s quaint shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance of the house including Freshtown supermarket. A short drive away are the historic Pakatakan Farmer’s Market, lauded chef-owned restaurants like the Peekamoose, and over the mountain in Bovina Center, Brushlands. Streamside is 13 miles from Plattekill Ski Center and 11 miles from Belleayre Ski Center. Popular wedding venues like Willow Drey Farm, Stone Tavern Farm and The Roxbury Barn are close by. Popular hiking trails in the area include Balsam Mountain Fire Tower, Panther Mountain and Giant Ledge to name a few. Belleayre Beach and Little Pond Campground and State Park offer lake swimming during the warmer months. Hiking, biking, antiquing, shopping, restaurants and sightseeing all a short drive away. Bluestone can accommodate five: one bedroom has a king-sized bed, the other has a twin, and the living room's two rotating, reclining futon chairs push together for a king-sized bed. Need more space? The Love Shack is now open year round! For an additional fee of $100 per night and $50 cleaning fee, guests may rent this cozy, private studio. It has a Queen bed, mid-size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, dishes and cutlery, Keurig coffee maker, Fujitsu split heat/AC unit, WIFI, TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, Echo Dot with Amazon music subscription, and a bathroom with shower. Enjoy the serenity of a chic, mountain property criss-crossed with stone walls from the 1700s, 15 - 30 minutes to the best attractions in the Catskills, like the All Star Village, 4 ski centers and more! After leaving your busy life behind, you weave through canopied roads, past pastoral farms, with the sky stretching above rolling green hills. You turn onto a well-kept dirt road and say hello to the cows on the corner. You continue past a pond made by beavers, maple, and oak, and birch trees, until finally you get to the very end. You turn onto a driveway and at the end of your journey, you find a Cape-Cod style house nestled in 12 acres of resplendent woods, completely private and secluded. Welcome to the Catskills Enchanted Forest! Nearby are 4 popular ski centers - Belleayre, Plattekill, Hunter and Windham - as well as Bearpen Mountain Sports, an outdoor winter playground offering tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, fat biking and ice skating! In the warmer months the nearby town of Stamford also has a BRAND NEW community pool and two tennis courts - only 13 minutes away! Open July - Labor Day. Search for the Stamford NY Pool and Robinson Broadhurst Memorial Pool to get updated hours and dates. Once you’re settled, you may enjoy picking blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, or black raspberries around the yard if it’s summertime. In the fall, take a walk through our path in the forest to enjoy the reds and golds of the trees, or visit a local farm for apple or pumpkin picking. Winter is perfect for snow-shoeing and wintry walks on the property or drive to a nearby mountain for skiing. In the spring, inhale the scent of the gorgeous flowers all around the yard, and if you’re lucky, you can catch the cherries on the cherry tree before the birds get to them. For the whole family, there’s a new swing, plenty of lawn games in mint condition (Badminton! Corn toss! Croquet! Tetherball!), a frog pond and fire pit. Spend mornings sipping coffee on the back porch and evenings in front of the grill preparing dinner from the local farmers markets. Back inside, enjoy feeling like you’re in a chalet! Main Floor The main floor of the house features a great room with a fantastic high end kitchen filled with top of the line appliances and features. The open living space includes a sitting room with TV, kitchen, dining area and living room with brand new 70" Samsung smart tv. Ample space for the entire group to gather for meals and fun. An elevated deck on the front of the house looks over the reflecting pond and woods. At the back of the house, just outside the foyer, a covered porch has a dining and BBQ area. The master bedroom is located just off the kitchen and provides a peaceful night sleep with it's spaciousness and comfort. Light blocking curtains let you slumber late in the morning if you like, or keep them open for an early morning treat. An en suite gives privacy and convenience. Second Floor Like a suite, the second floor has a door at the top of the stairs for added privacy. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay. HUNTING SEASON - We do not host to groups that are visiting for hunting season. There is no hunting on the land and while we are near state land, we do not allow firearms on the property. This cabin is best for small families, groups of friends of couples looking to get away from it all and is not appointed for hunting parties. Compact, efficient and stocked with everting you need to prepare meals. Note that there is not a dishwasher or microwave. Living Area The living and dining room adjoin the kitchen. Open the shades to take in the peaceful view of the woods outside. A sizable, cushy sofa is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of sightseeing. In the colder months, the wood stove adds warmth and ambiance to the space. The dining area has seating for 4 and can double as a working space. Bathroom The bathroom is on the main floor and has a toilet, sink and shower. While not big in size, it is functional and gets the job done. Bedrooms One bedroom with a full sized bed is on the main floor. The second bedroom is a LOFT bedroom. Guests must feel comfortable climbing a ladder staircase to the loft area. In the loft, you are welcomed by a plush, queen sized bed, a view of the living area and outdoors. For those who don't enjoy an early morning sunrise, curtains in front of the bed block the light to allow for some extra sleeping time. Outdoors The newly renovated back deck will be your favorite spot, all year round. With a propane BBQ grill, dining table and seating, you will harmonize with nature in comfort. Overlooking the pond and the lawn, the deck is the perfect spot for early morning coffee or evening firefly watching. Down a short flight of stairs, the lawn extends to the pond. A path leads you around the pond and through a small field, back around to the creek the runs behind the house. Crystal clear, refreshing mountain water from the stream feeds the pond. Invigorating in the warmer months for swimming. In the colder months, the stillness of the pond mirrors the surrounding woods and is a delight to see. Just next to the pond, there is a fire pit and seating area as well as a hammock. At the home there is parking for 3 to 4 vehicles at the top of the driveway, in front of the garage or along the driveway. Main Level There are two short sets of steps to get the entrance, which is the kitchen on the main level. The main level of the home has an open floorpan. A spacious Chef's Kitchen features a 5 burner LP gas stovetop, convection wall oven, wine fridge, porcelain tile countertops, stainless farm sink and breakfast bar. Fully stocked with everything you need to prepare and serve meals. A sitting area just off the kitchen has a floor to ceiling fieldstone, double sided fireplace and sliding doors leading onto the L shaped sunroom that wraps around to the kitchen. The sunroom, with walls of windows for an amazing view, has a sitting area and 10 foot custom made live edge dining table. A second set of sliding doors connects the sunroom to the kitchen while a built in countertop serves as a pass through to the sitting area. The perfect buffet or drink station! There is also a door in the sunroom that leads to the deck with outdoor furniture and seating. On the other side of the fireplace is an intimate living area with brand new, comfy L shaped sofa and Smart TV. Two walls of windows add to the ambience, letting the outdoors in. An enormous, spa-like bathroom has a garden tub and walk in shower room plus a large bathroom closet. The billiards room is open to the stairway and has a regulation size billiards table, fireplace and french doors leading to the covered ground level deck. Another living room is just past the billiards room and has a Smart TV and a leather L shaped sofa. There are two exercise rooms! When the provided supply is gone guests should purchase what they need for the remainder of their stay. The maximum number of guests in the house is 8 which includes children and infants. For your safety and comfort do not exceed the number of guests allowed in the home. We are dog friendly but there is an additional fee of $200 per reservation for pets. One dog max. Cell service is limited in the area and it is likely there is no service at the house. Write down directions when driving in the area as GPS may not be available. WiFi Calling will allow you to make and receive phone calls at the house, check your cell phone carrier settings. Snow is likely October - April. Check the weather for this area and plan your travel accordingly. Snow plow service stops between 8PM and 5AM on secondary roads. If you smoke inside the home there will be a $500 fine. I don't want that, you don't want that. Let's just not. Winter: October through April when snow and ice are likely, guests should have either winter tires or all season tires. Check the weather before arrival and plan your trip accordingly. If you are unfamiliar with driving in snow look for tips online at sources like AAA. The driveway is plowed, maintained and shoveled to the door. A shovel is provided for you so you can maintain a safe walkway during your stay.
