About The Property

ACCOMMODATIONS: Main level: Master with king, full bath. Upper level: Second bedroom with king, third bedroom with queen, second full bath, loft with one queen and one twin. Andrew’s River Haven is one of our most fun homes with all the amenities that a rental should have to make it the best vacation your family has ever enjoyed. Not only is the cabin beautiful, but it has been decorated with lovely mountain themes in both furniture and accessories. With over 100 feet of river frontage, it has a beautiful view of both the river meandering down the valley and also a mountain view of pastures and mountains in the distance. It is rare to have both river frontage and a view, but this house has both. You can fish, tube, canoe, splash, and in some areas swim the New River. You will love this. The house is also located on the historic Railroad Grade Road, known for its flat roads following the river bed where you can bike or walk for over 10 miles and enjoy incredible views and peace- winter or summer. You can ride to Todd and have lunch or stop at the corner store for a picnic and take it with you, visiting the numerous beautiful spots along the river. This is a rare and unique area that offers little development while only 10 minutes to Boone or the Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 minutes to the ski slopes or Blowing Rock and still a hop, skip and a jump to scenic routes to all the tourist attractions - we even provide an extensive list of favorites that need to be visited while in this area. The house has been tastefully decorated and has been thoughtfully furnished with a good selection of entertainment in foosball tables, ping pong table and an Xbox 360 if you want to bring your favourite games. All the bedrooms are decorated with a mountain theme and so have a 'cozy factor' of 9. As it sits on the course of the old railroad, it is one of the most popular roads in the region for cycling along (11 miles from end to end) both for diehards with lightweight multi-gear machines + appropriate apparel, to those who wish just to meander and take in the magnificent natural beauty of the surroundings. An early morning walk/bike/jog from Andrew's River Haven when the river mist is about is an experience to savor. Andrew's features a rare-in-these-parts large flat lot that fronts the river and has had some pleasant landscaping done so you can wander down the garden path to the river's edge for tubing, splashing, fishing or just sitting there in the shallows in a camp chair and a nice glass of Chardonnay. There is also a circular fire-pit that is surrounded by Adirondack chairs. Sitting with family or a bunch of pals around a roaring out-door fire will be a memory you will take away with you more than any other. Within the giant rear lot is a 3' fenced-in dog lot that allows your furry family members a chance to stretch their legs without fear of them wandering off. There is a gas grill there, as well. The exterior has a rocking chair porch on the covered deck and an outside dining table for looking at the view and enjoying a family dinner. Want more peace? Go to the front covered porch with its own rockers and view. The interior with its hardwood floors and wooden chinked walls is beautifully decorated with all the furniture from the NC furniture manufacturers, complemented by lovely linens, pillow top mattresses, goose down quilts, local artist’s paintings of mountain scenes, and the whole mountain atmosphere. With 3 bedrooms and a loft, the bedrooms have 2 kings and one queen, while the loft has a queen bed and 1 single for waking up looking out over the river. In the winter, the stone gas fireplace with beautiful wood mantel allows you to cuddle up and watch TV with the Amazon Fire stick, the fire, or possibly the snow falling. Even if you are inside, you can still see the river and go fishing if you are brave enough. While only 11 miles to Boone, you are close to all the tourist attractions and 20 minutes to App ski slope. This is a house that we think offers everything for your vacation fun and enjoyment. Come and have a great time! Additional Notes: Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a fire starter for $25 plus tax per night.  Andrew's River Haven has paved access all the way to the cabin. For larger groups, consider renting this cabin with Cruizin' River Dreams right next door. It is plowed in winter, but 4WD or AWD vehicles are required in the winter months, and chains may also be necessary to access the property. We are happy to help you find the home with the access you are most comfortable with, any time of year! All linens and towels included in home Dogs welcome, $25/night each, plus tax
