About The Property

You belong here. La Belle Esplanade has been ranked the #1 B&B in New Orleans since April 2014 (and #2 B&B in the U.S. and #16 in the world). Located in a colorful and quirky mansion on a historic street. Our neighborhood is close to the tourist must-sees, but it is in an authentic New Orleans neighborhood of its own, home to small family-run museums, nationally famous restaurants, and local hangouts. The New Orleans Museum of Art, Frenchmen Street, and the French Quarter are a 20-minute stroll away. There are 70 restaurants within a mile radius from our address, most of them closer than that. Some of them are nationally famous and some of them are just for those of us who are in the know. You can be in the know, too. Read the blog on our website, often called, "The Best-Written Blog in New Orleans," and follow us on Facebook to keep yourself in a New Orleans state of mind. When you are ready to discover what it means to fall in love with the real New Orleans, you know where to find us. We're here for you.

A man-about-New Orleans, a bon vivant, a raconteur extraordinaire, Matthew King and his wife, Frau Schmitt, have owned and operated La Belle Esplanade since it opened in 2012. Sometimes called The Best Dressed Man in New Orleans. Sometimes called The Most Interesting Man in New Orleans. We go everywhere and do everything to be able to give personalized recommendations to our guests. There is more to New Orleans than Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Our job is to share what it is lik
