Since you are staying at the south end of the island, you can kayak to Little Tybee, a wetland that covers about twice the real estate as Tybee proper. It is about a mile to the south, and if you set out as the tide is receding, you can get there in less than an hour. You won’t encounter wake from motorized boats, so it’s a relaxing paddle trip. You can hike around little Tybee, and some hearty visitors even camp overnight. However, Little Tybee is more of a nature preserve than a campground. You’ll get to see an abundance of native flora and fauna, and it’s a rewarding way for nature lovers to spend part of a day.
