The Guest suite's history can be seen in the bayou-styled porch, 100-year-old pew, and southern rockers.  This  Victorian cottage boasts high ceilings and furnishings from the movie "Angels Sing".  The original H.H. Slawson Plantation’s stables, Smitty house, and carriage grounds are now adjacent gardens and pavilion areas for leisure outdoor time or a comfy remote work office. Your zoom colleagues will be jealous! The home also has off-street parking available!Walk to the local Bywater venues (see links here) https://bywatercottages.com/bywater-neighborhood/   or be adventurous and head to the Faubourg Marigny or French Quarter.  After a day of touring the city or walking the riverfront return to your guest home to allow yourself a shaded retreat in the courtyard or pavilion. In the evenings enjoy the courtyards and gardens while cicadas and tree frogs and a glass of wine lull you into the New Orleans state of mind! The Victorian Guest House built in 1892 stands on the back of the estate's original Creole cottage built directly after the Civil War from 1866 through 1868 when completed. Historic preservation evokes charm and elegance throughout the property. Furnishings have been acquired from movie sets such as AMC new series Interview with a Vampire and the Christmas production starring Harry Connick Jr and Willie Nelson rocking away the hours. Our charm is locked into the mortar from actors and actresses, musicians, writers, athletes, and everyday joe and Jane who have laid the foundation for our guest cottages! The next generation of magic is coming to life with artists in residence such as Josh Harmon, Work remotely has brought fantastic new minds to the draw of the South away from Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Baltimore.
