The kitchen also has patio door access to the large deck (which faces woods and occasionally wildlife wanders by. This 5 bedroom home has 3 full baths (1 main level & 2 on the upper level). Carraigeen Cottage is a new 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage right on the shores of beautiful Kangaroo Lake. It has a fully equipped modern kitchen with granite countertops, new stainless steel appliances, including a full sized dishwasher, full stove, large refrigerator, and new washer / dryer. You are welcome to bring your own boat. You can launch it at the Baileys Harbor boat launch on Kangaroo Lake Road. There is a $10 launch fee and it is on the honor system. The collection box is at the launch. Children will love paddling and swimming in the warm waters of Kangaroo Lake. This is a great location for fishing, biking, hiking and canoeing and close to all the downtown amenities of Baileys Harbor and Egg Harbor – Shops, restaurants, galleries, cafes and the marina and beach are only a few minutes away. Wisconsin achieved its statehood on May 29th, 1848. It quickly started to attract settlers who came to log the forestlands, mine, and embark on dairy farming. The flourishing mining industry of the time is why the state is often referred to as the ‘Badger State’. The regional lead miners dug deep into the hillsides to form housing rather than construct permanent houses. People who witnessed the unusual housing behavior dubbed the miners ‘badgers’ and the moniker quickly spread to the state itself.
Prior to the Civil War, the state became an integral part of the Underground Railroad as many in the state worked to help slaves on their journey to freedom in the far north of Canada. Nowadays, Wisconsin remains a hug for the nation’s dairy industry and it is also well-known as a major cheddar cheese producer – in fact, Wisconsin residents regularly refer to themselves as ‘cheeseheads’.

Wisconsin is known for its hot and humid summers combined with cold winters. Although, the state does have seasonal changes and the trees are lovely in the autumn as the foliage takes on brilliant hues.
The northern and western portion of the state can receive snowfall that can easily reach 160 inches a year. The rest of the state averages a yearly snowfall of around 40 inches. Interestingly, the cold climate means that the snow wills stay on the ground for around 140 days each year.
Rainfall in the state averages 35 inches and the northwest portion receives the most significant amount of rain. June is considered the state’s rainy month. Thunderstorms are intense and occasional tornadoes do occur. Certain areas of the state are prone to flooding, especially in the spring and summer months.
