Want to experience Frankenmuth in the best way? How better than 2 bedrooms in a true bed and breakfast in the heart of town. "Dawdy Haus" is Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish) for "Grandpa's House". When the kids have grown up and the house becomes too big, it becomes time to turn it over to a child that has their own growing family. The Amish often build a new house for the grandparents - with a guest room or two. This is known as the "dawdy haus". This is our dawdy haus! Let us share it with you! (PLEASE NOTE. You are booking 2 private rooms with a private bathroom. Not the entire home. This is a Bed and Breakfast which is actually a specific thing and means that there must be a host onsite who provides breakfast! You will be the only guests and you will have access to all the common areas of the home, including the hot tub!) Read on! Inspired by the Amish, we've decorated in a simple farmhouse style that will make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Our home is all about having a place for family and friends to visit and share time together. Whether it's early morning coffee on a glider rocker on the sun porch, grilling on the patio, or competing with the kids on the full size air hockey table in the basement, we hope you just feel at home. Like most Amish dawdy hauses, it is a ranch style home so you don't have to deal with stairs, but with a full finished basement. So even if it is smaller than the home we just moved out of, there is plenty of room for sleeping, visiting, and playing. The outdoor patio is private and perfect for gathering most of the year! Even in the winter because of our newly installed hot tub! And the rest of the yard is completely fenced with an extra high chain-link fence which you and your pets will appreciate. And in case you wondered, we have plenty of electricity. I said 'inspired' by the Amish. When it comes to accessing the wonders of Frankenmuth, we can't say enough how perfect the location is. Leave your car in the driveway and walk two blocks to where the traditional Frankenmuth attractions begin. If you know Frankenmuth, you know that everything is centered on Main Street and there is a slight incline from the river up to Genesee Street. We're at the top of the 'hill', so you get to start with the downhill walk. If you don't want to walk back, we’ll come and bring you back! Regarding accessing our home. You’ll have your private bedrooms and bath, and the common areas of the house are available for your use - including the Hot Tub. As a true Bed and Breakfast, by definition, we provide breakfast and we reside in the home. This is different than many Airbnb's that you may find elsewhere. See the "During Your Stay" section for more details. As far as accessing other places? The Birch Run outlet mall is 8.6 miles from our home. Take the back way down Dehmel Rd to avoid the crowds on Main St. Bronner's Christmas Wonderland is also a little far to walk but how can you not go to a place that has billboards all the way down in Florida. By definition, as a true Frankenmuth bed and breakfast we are there in the morning to provide breakfast and we reside in the home. We split time between Michigan and Florida, and like to camp, so you may meet a couple of our adult kids who help if we are gone. Speaking of breakfast! We provide a different home-cooked meal each morning of your stay. Check out the pictures, they'll make you hungry! But please note: we don't provide a buffet of ALL the items in ALL the pictures at ONE time. We have to mention this because someone had this expectation and left us a bad review because we didn't! Outside of breakfast, we will try to make ourselves scarce unless you are looking for our help in experiencing Frankenmuth. We can get you started with a wine tasting (ask for details), maybe a guided tour, or maybe all you need are a few recommendations! We want you to have only the amount of interaction with us that YOU want to make your visit to Frankenmuth perfect! Regardless, we are never more than a phone call or IM away throughout the day and evening . We wanted to be within walking distance of the heartbeat of Frankenmuth. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood two blocks from Main Street, its the perfect location for us - and probably for you! Frankenmuth is made for walking. And from our home you're a couple blocks from shops, restaurants and all the attractions If you are looking for a place to hold a party because your guests might make a mess of your home, just keep scrolling. We're not interested. We price based on how many are staying in the home. This is calculated during checkout by Airbnb, so it is important that you enter the right number of guests. We have a Mini Golden Doodle puppy and we allow dogs. Up to two dogs only. And a maximum of 40 lbs each. All pets must be crated if left alone in the house. And sorry, no cats period. My husband is deathly allergic. Unfortunately, because of a guest that refused to take responsibility for the actions of their pet, and Airbnb not backing us up, we must require a damage waiver from pet owners. It is $10-15 per night in addition to the pet fee and is available on our private guest portal. Speaking of our Guest Portal, as an API software-connected host, we are authorized by Airbnb to manage deposits and provide additional services offline. We call these "Extras". "Extras" include both certain free amenities and items available for a fee. All can be easily arranged through our Guest Portal. We will send you a link after you book. You will be able to: 1) request optional free amenities like setting up a port-a-crib, etc. and 2) select and pay for things like: an early check-in, etc. If you have questions or can't find these on the guest portal, reach out and ask about any of these items of interest. If you're like us and like to go south when Michigan is cold, check out our other home down on the Florida Gulf coast. You can find our other properties on our profile.

Your Manatee and Scalloping Adventure Retreat in Crystal River

We fell in love with this home for different reasons. I love the massive master suite with a slider to the lanai and room for all our kids and grandkids to visit. For him, less practical maybe but "you had me at the palm trees". You walk thru the front doors directly onto a large foyer and a view through the living room of the lanai and pool with woods behind. We were home! Just perfect. I hope you enjoy it! ...If planning to book it is important that you KEEP READING. There is important info. There is a lot of information in these descriptions that you may not get from the generic boxes available for me to check or even the photos. Please take the time to read everything to know what you are getting! The mature palm trees are spectacular, but so is the house. And it all leads your gaze to the pool and lanai. An entire wall of moving glass doors overlooks the pool off of the living area; and there is even a full bathroom in the courtyard. Wow. What a view. 6 bedrooms it says? 3 huge bedrooms, a game room, a den and an office - all with doors for private sleeping arrangements - surround an open living area with a fantastic, fully appointed kitchen available for your use. It's almost like the house in the game "Clue". We had really high standards for a master suite. And this home checks all the boxes. Large, with a sitting area overlooking - and accessible to - the pool. Enormous walk-in closet. Gigantic master bathroom with multiple sinks, a huge shower, and a 2 person jetted tub. And, one thing that was a bonus. A sauna. Just perfect. The other bedrooms are at the other end of the house. They are large and share the other full bathroom that is larger than many master baths! And remember, there is a third bath off the lanai. Both are easily accessible to the pool and the house. To add to the argument that you might have with each other regarding "what is the best feature of the house?" Did I mention the pool and lanai? Fully screened with a covered lanai housing a large dining lounge set and four large, cushioned chaises surrounding the newly resurfaced and heated pool. Originally, we added a solar heating system to the pool for a renewable energy solution. That wasn't warm enough for everyone so we also put in an electric heat pump that can handle cloudy days and colder guests. Solar heat is included. There is an additional daily fee for using electric heat. We also wanted to make the out-of-doors more a part of your experience - with a gas grill, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. The firepit sits under a tall canopy of trees surrounded by citronella buckets and sparkling lights. A magical place to spend your evenings visiting and making s'mores. There is a grove of trees and bushes that create a thicket that adds a great deal of privacy to the front yard. Our daughter and her family recently visited; she took it upon herself to make a special place in that grove. She hollowed out the center of the grove and found a way of setting up the hammock that I previously hadn't found a place for. I now call it "Hillary's Hammock Hollow". That name probably deserves a plaque! It is an awesome spot to get away from it all in relative privacy. The other new inspiration was to install two separate fences. One outside in the backyard for pets, the other - inspired by my active, toddler grandson - is a child/dog fence on the lanai blocking off the pool. This will add a great degree of comfort to any parents with small children. You can now enjoy the lanai without watching them every second around the pool. It will be installed only for guests with small children by request and can be removed altogether or partially opened for access to the pool. You will have access to the entire home and grounds with a few exceptions. The garage will be off limits as well as one of the closets in the master suite. We will put anything private in those locations. So, you can feel confident that you are free to use anything else. Also, the camper is not available to guests at this time. At this time, you being in the home means that we are likely up north. However, if work has kept us in Florida we may need to stay in the camper that we store on the property for a few days at a time. We are very prompt at responding to questions through the Airbnb system, and hopefully, we will have provided you with everything you need to know for a wonderful stay When we first saw the house, we noticed how mature the trees were, and how much space there was between homes. An awesome neighborhood. Quiet. Spacious. Acres of deep woods behind our home. Close to a golf course and not far from a grocery store. But what we cared most about was the location. We're close to all the natural attractions that make this area so popular: Crystal River, Homosassa Springs, and Weeki Wachee. So, we are incredibly close to all of these spring fed rivers and some of the most spectacular clear water kayaking, paddleboarding, and manatee watching anywhere. And then there is "scalloping" from July 1 through Sept 24. And the food? Awesome restaurants abound. Check out my guidebooks for help in navigating the various adventures. And culinary options! We're not far off of US19/98. So it's easy to get around. But not a mecca for public transportation. US19 takes you to Homosassa Springs and Weeki Wachee to the the south and Three Sisters spring, etc in Crystal River just to the north. Tampa is the nearest major airport. The best way to get there is via the Suncoast Parkway (SR589). You can now catch it just East of Crystal River by taking W Venable St to SR44. The parkway takes you straight to and from the airport. This is also the fastest way to get to Clearwater area beaches. That expansion also brings the Suncoast Trail trailhead to within a few miles of our home. Just another example of the broad access we have to outdoor activities. Once your booking is complete, please be aware that we require additional steps to complete your reservation of this property. You will receive a link to our Rental Agreement. Once completed, you will receive a link to our Guest Portal where you will find access to additional information and will be asked to reserve certain free amenities and have the opportunity to purchase "Add ons". A short time before arrival we will also request and require a payment source to reserve a Security Deposit for your stay. For direct bookings and bookings through services that do not require positive identification in order to book, we will require a photo ID to be provided through the guest portal. This will consist of uploading a scan of your passport or driver's license along with a 'selfie'. The House Rules are also available for you on the Guest Portal. The House Rules are an easy-to-read addendum to the rental agreement that outlines the information that is applicable to all guests. We will also send you a copy and ask that you download and share this document with all other guests. We provide additional services offline. We call these Add Ons. "Add ons" include both certain free amenities and items available for a fee. All can be easily arranged through our Guest Portal. This is the site that you access immediately after you sign our Rental Agreement. We will send you a link. You will be able to: 1) request optional free amenities like setting up a port-a-crib, etc. and 2) select and pay for things like: a late checkout, a supply of breakfast groceries waiting for you in the fridge in case you arrive too late to go to the store, a cleaning by our housekeeper during your stay, electric heat for the pool, etc. If you have questions or can't find these on the guest portal, reach out and ask about any of these items of interest. Our guest portal is a separate system, so purchases will require separate payment (credit card) arrangement. We have purchased Damage Protection Coverage on your behalf. This policy covers the first $1500 worth of accidental damage. It excludes damage by unregistered pets, and linens. Please let us know right away if anything happens. You would remain responsible for anything beyond this coverage. Please note, while booking you may be offered a 'trip interruption' policy. It's not a damage policy, but may be a good purchase if you are worried about events that might lead to cancellation. We especitally recommend it to all of our long-term guests because of the alternate cancellation policy for long-term stays. For long-term stays during the months of January - April we have a specific cancellation policy. The first 30 days is the deposit. It is due at booking and is non-refundable. The remaining dates are refundable until 30 days before check-in. To reiterate, we recommend that anyone considering a long-term stay purchase a trip interruption insurance policy. Ask and we can refer you. Because of issues with parties and disruptive events, at this time, some of the booking services do not allow gatherings of more than 16 people - even just during the day. We're in agreement with that. If you have a larger group, and you were hoping to make it easier to share the cost of an exclusive home like ours - we're sorry. We aren't interested in alienating our neighbors or having our listing suspended for you. If you've ever had a pool you know it can take more work sometimes than a once-a-week visit from 'the pool guy'. While you're staying you may need to do a few maintenance things to ensure that it is available when you want it. For example, chlorine evaporates. If there is a heavy rain, it can impact the water chemistry more than the experts may have anticipated and now algae is growing and the pool is getting cloudy, etc. The easiest thing to say is, let us know and we will talk you through what you can do. And none of it is hard. There is more about maintenance in the house manual.

Paradise with a pool, pier and private beach area

Intercoastal, Blackburn Bay waterfront home with boating facilities near Casey Key and Siesta Key. On a point facing the setting sun. This is simply paradise. The pier is long, and the water deep enough to handle most boat docking needs. The large, heated pool is a few steps from the screened lanai and the deck beckons "come watch the sunset". And while it won't replace one of the large beaches on the key, you can lay or play on our beach hidden by mangroves, and easily launch kayaks, etc. Perfect for families, vacationing couples, corporate retreats or corporate rewards! There is LOTS OF INFO HERE!!! Please read thoroughly before booking - or asking questions. The time it takes to respond might cost you the dates you wanted! It happens all the time! Do you like to vacation together but would still like some privacy? How about 2 king suites on opposite ends of the house, one of which is part of a 'family suite' with an adjoining room with 2 queen beds and it's own half bath. And then another separate area with 2 bedrooms that is essentially Suite #3 - one king room and one queen room - and a full bath between them. A total of five bedrooms, six beds, and 4 baths. Three families or three generations of family could easily vacation together in this fabulous home. Let's talk about the views. Sunsets from the west-facing pool deck. Cranes, storks, and pelicans that love the private dock and sometimes come right up on the pool deck - and then fly off while you try to sneak closer to take that photo. Wave at the boats and boaters going by that have just come through the nearby passage between the bay and the gulf. Early morning rowing crews out for their workouts while you sip your coffee. Was that a fish jumping out of the water? Yes, it was a mullet and how do they do that? And how about the important amenities? The pier, the pool, and the private beach? The pier is private and long, and can handle most boat docking needs. Access to put your boat in the water is nearby, as is the outlet to the gulf. Easy to head up the coast to enjoy the nightlife of Siesta Key or any of the world famous beaches, while knowing you can come back to an exclusive, quiet retreat. The pier also boasts a dual jet ski lift. To top it all orr, it's a pretty nice place to fish off of as well. The water is clear, you can see lots of fish, and there is a fish cleaning station right on the pier. The large, heated pool is accessible from the wall of glass doors along the entire back of the house. There is plenty of room for sunbathing after you have finished splashing. Prefer to layout on sand? Try the beach. Partially hidden behind a stand of mangroves it provides wonderful privacy while you dig your feet in the sand or make sandcastles. And you can access the water for swimming or to launch your kayaks to explore the islands in the bay or for a trip up South Creek into Oscar Scherer State part - right around the corner. Need more reasons to stay here? A large kitchen, with all the tools you might need. Large eating, living and entertaining spaces for big families, groups of friends or small business groups. Two separate office spaces and good wifi for 'workationing'. The gardens make you feel like you're in a tropical rain forest. From the courtyard as you approach the front door, to the hibiscus surrounding the pool. You'll forget whatever stress you came in with after just a few moments in this little corner of paradise. This oasis. You'll have the place to yourself including the attached 2 car garage, with a couple of exceptions. The detached garage and apartment are not available at this time. Also, there are 3 locked closets in the main hallway for the owner and housekeeper's use. Don't worry, there are still plenty of closets! We are available through the app or by phone. We also have staff nearby for any emergencies. And a tablet there with answers to most any possible question. Located in a cul-de-sac along a private drive with no visibility from the street. Plenty of parking on the property with the main driveway and a second drive leading to the carriage house. There is nothing in walking distance, but the mouth of South Creek which leads into Scherer State Park is within easy kayaking distance Casey Key and Siesta Key beaches are all within a short boat ride from your private dock - or a short drive! But definitely none inside - that would be creepy! We had to install the cameras, not for burglars but because we've had guest counts that exceeded what was reserved. This is not nice. Please be honest. We price based on how many are staying in the home. And we make sure it is a good value for either a retired couple of snowbirds or a big family on an adventure-filled vacation. And, even though you will leave our home as clean as when you arrived, the size of the group still makes a big difference in how much time and work our housekeeper has to do with laundry, etc. to prepare for the next guests. And then there are pets. Please don't try to sneak any in without including them in the booking. All pets must be crated if left alone in the house.

Spacious Snowbird and Summer Staycation Spot

I was excited, we were in Florida, I couldn't wait for someone to enter the front door code, so I wandered around back. And saw the pool inside the privacy fence. So inviting. I wanted to jump in. Then we went in the house. So cute. So stylish. I really felt comfortable and at home. This was going to be nice. Nice big rooms. Nice big kitchen. This will do nicely. We enter into a large open living area with a coastal theme. A few steps in and I see the newly updated, fully equipped kitchen to my left with the dining area just beyond. Then, I can't help but be drawn to the comfy looking sitting area just inside the sliding doors that lead to that beautiful pool. Oh, and what bedroom are we taking? They both have their own bathrooms. Awesome. One has two queen beds. The other has a king. And the kids? They can have the two sofa sleepers in the living area, a roll-away, and the pack 'n play. Perfect! Okay. Where is that suitcase with my swimming suit? I think I can take a dip before I start supper on the grill that I saw on the patio! There is room to park 3 cars in the driveway and overflow parking in the street is okay. You are also able to use the garage. We are prompt at replying to app messages for any questions or needs that you have This is a residential neighborhood with canals nearby Quiet streets immediately around our home for peaceful walks, but not too far from bigger roads. Once your booking is complete, please be aware that we require additional steps to complete your reservation of this property. You will receive a link to our Rental Agreement. Our guest portal is a separate system, so purchases will require a separate payment (credit card) arrangement. We have purchased Damage Protection Coverage on your behalf. This policy covers the first $1500 worth of accidental damage. It excludes damage by unregistered pets and linens. Please let us know right away if anything happens. You would remain responsible for anything beyond this coverage. Please note, while booking you may be offered a 'trip interruption' policy. It's not a damage policy, but may be a good purchase if you are worried about events that might lead to cancellation. We especially recommend it to all of our long-term guests because of the alternate cancellation policy for long-term stays. For long-term stays during the months of January - April we have a specific cancellation policy. The first 30 days is the deposit. It is due at booking and is non-refundable. The remaining dates are refundable until 60 days before check-in. To reiterate, we recommend that anyone considering a long-term stay purchase a trip interruption insurance policy. Ask and we can refer you. Because of issues with parties and disruptive events, at this time, Airbnb does not allow gatherings of more than 16 people - even just during the day. We're in agreement with that. If you have a larger group, and you were hoping to make it easier to share the cost of an exclusive home like ours - we're sorry. We aren't interested in alienating our neighbors or having our listing suspended for you. If you are thinking about going up north to escape the heat, check out our true bed and breakfast in Frankenmuth, Michigan. You can find our other properties by clicking on our profile. If you've ever had a pool you know it can take more work sometimes than a once-a-week visit from 'the pool guy'. While you're staying you may need to do a few maintenance things to ensure that it is available when you want it. For example, chlorine evaporates, if there is a heavy rain, it can impact the water chemistry more than the experts may have anticipated and now algae is growing and the pool is getting cloudy, etc. The easiest thing to say is, let us know and we will talk you through what you can do. And none of it is hard. There is more about maintenance in the house manual. There are security cameras on the front door, the driveway, and near the pool screen doors. But none inside - that would be creepy! We had to install the cameras, not for burglars but because we've had guest counts that exceeded what was reserved. This is not nice. Please be honest. We price based on how many are staying in the home. And we make sure it is a good value for either a retired couple of snowbirds or a big family on an adventure-filled vacation. And, even if you leave our home as clean as when you arrive, as required, the size of the group still makes a big difference in how much time and work our housekeeper has to do with laundry, etc. And then there are pets. Please don't try to sneak any in without including them in the booking. All pets must be crated if left alone in the house.

Island home on Kings Bay - manatees at the dock!

We were looking for a place with boat access, a pool, and a home large enough to invite an extended set of family or friends! When we found this home located on a small crescent-shaped island, we knew it was perfect. Finding out our cove was actually a spring and one of the secret places that the tour companies bring people to swim with manatees - was a bonus! I hope you enjoy it! ...If planning to book it is important that you KEEP READING. There is important info. There is LOTS OF INFO HERE!!! Please read thoroughly before booking - or asking questions. We have had guests miss out because they were asking questions that were already answered here and someone else took their dates. Read on! This home is perfect for families, vacationing couples, and groups of friends who love the water! It is not available for what Airbnb terms 'events'. Which are loud disruptive parties. We like our neighbors and want them to like us. Are you 2 couples that like to vacation together but would still like some privacy? You could consider the layout as essentially 2 king suites plus guest rooms. Overall, there are 2 king bedrooms and 2 bedrooms each with 2 queen size beds. Beyond that, there are 2 sofa sleepers, 1 in each of the living areas. A total of four bedrooms, 8 beds, and 2 baths. So, 16 sleeping spaces are available as long as your group is configured accordingly. Two or three families or generations of family could easily vacation together in this fabulous home. Let's talk about the views. Sunsets from the water or nearby Ft Island beach. Cranes, storks, and pelicans that love the private dock and sometimes come right up on the pool deck - and then fly off while you try to sneak closer to take that photo. Was that a fish jumping out of the water? Yes, it was a mullet and how do they do that? And the manatees? Yes, they seem to love our cove. We saw a herd(?) of 12 the other day right from the dock. The water was so clear and they were chomping away at the yummy sea grass! We can't guarantee they are here year-round but they are here much longer than we've found them at places like Three Sisters Springs. And how about some other important amenities? The dock, the pool, and the patio? The dock is floating and the water is still 3 ft deep at low tide. Access to put your boat in the water is nearby, as is the outlet to the gulf. Easy to head out to your favorite scalloping spot, while knowing you can come back to an exclusive, quiet retreat. There are always plenty of fish near the dock, so you can fish from there or take out one of our fishing-outfitted kayaks or your own boat. In photos, you may see a boat lift. It will be available for month-long stays only, but is currently waiting for repair. The unique, combo spa and heated salt water pool is accessible from the sunroom and from one of the master bedrooms, and visible from the wall of windows surrounding the sunroom along the entire back of the house. As i mentioned, the pool is unique. Around 3/4 of the edge is a spa-like bench with jets. Hence, it is a combo pool and spa! And it has a waterfall. There is plenty of room for sunbathing after you have finished splashing. Prefer the sand? Just down the road a few miles is Fort Island Trail Beach. A very nice gulf beach with great sand and great sunsets! Need more reasons to stay here? A large kitchen, with all the tools you might need. Large eating, living and entertaining spaces for big families, groups of friends or small business groups. Need office space for your 'workation'? We have high speed wifi, and I am writing all of this from a desk in the sunroom overlooking the cove while watching an Osprey diving into the water for a tasty morsel! And there goes a mullet leaping out of the water! You will have access to the entire home and grounds with one exception being a storage room for our cleaners. The front door will be accessed with a personalized code for the smart lock. There are two outdoor closets with push button locks that hold items for the pool and kayaking, etc. The kayaks will be secured with a cable and a combination lock. We are not always local, but we have support staff if you need anything. We also provide a tablet kiosk with access to the house manual, guidebooks, etc. We are very prompt at responding to questions through the Airbnb system, and hopefully, we will have provided you with everything you need to know for a wonderful stay. As I mentioned, we are on a crescent shaped island. When you drive over the one lane bridge, watch for oncoming cars or pedestrians, and go slowly. As you reach the island, one of the first things you see straight ahead will be the cove on the inside of the crescent, across the water will be our dock and the back yard of the house. Once again, always drive slowly, there are 16 homes on the island and always friendly people out walking on the narrow, paved road. You currently catch it just East of Crystal River by taking W Venable St. The Parkway takes you straight to the airport. This is also the fastest way to get to Clearwater area beaches That expansion also brings the Suncoast Trail trailhead to within a few miles of our home. Want to experience Frankenmuth in the best way? How about a room in a bed and breakfast in the heart of town. This is our dawdy haus! we look forward to sharing it with you! (PLEASE NOTE. You are booking 1 private room with a private bathroom. When it comes to accessing the wonders of Frankenmuth, we can't say enough about how perfect the location is. Leave your car in the driveway and walk two blocks to where the traditional Frankenmuth attractions begin. If you know Frankenmuth, you know that everything is centered on Main Street and there is a slight incline from the river up to Genesee Street. We're at the top of the hill, so you get to start with the downhill walk. If you don't want to walk back, we’ll come and bring you back if you let us know ahead of time! Regarding accessing our home. You'll get a code for the front door and for your private bedroom. The bathroom is shared by the two guest rooms, but we currently only allow one group at a time, so every group will have a private bathroom. If you need a second room, check our listing that offers both of our guest rooms instead. Type airbnb.com and add /h/frankenmuth-dawdy-haus The common areas of the house are available for your use - including the Hot Tub. By definition as a true Frankenmuth bed and breakfast we are there in the morning to provide breakfast and we reside in the home. We can get you started with a free wine tasting (ask for details), maybe a guided tour, or maybe all you need are a few recommendations! One dog per guest room only. And a maximum of 40 lbs.
