In Downtown Shinnston, West Virginia the Gillum House offers 3 (1-king, 2-rooms with queen) relaxing accommodations close to all area activities and attractions. Visit the specialty shops in Shinnston, hike or bike the West Fork River Rail-Trail, performances in the Park, or the covered bridges, wineries, distillery (open Saturdays) available in the area – the antique shops, wineries, and WV craft shops are open all year. Kathleen will create an outing just for you and your interests that will give you a day of sites and activities and then bring you back to the bed & breakfast. We also offer an Elopement Package. Awaken to the aroma of baking each morning of your stay as Kathleen makes muffins (sugar-free/GF available) for a healthy, delicious breakfast (Cook's Choice served family-style). Coffee is roasted on-site from the country chosen by our guests. For those who prefer tea, we have selections fromallover the world. Guest accommodations are on the second floor. The Gillum House is a smoke-free facility – there is a crystal ashtray on the porch for our guests who smoke. Children are welcomed but must bring at least one parent or guardian. Due to allergies of the host, we cannot accommodate pets.
Kathleen, originally from West Virginia, lived in Illinois for 24 years. She has 6 children, 9 grandchildren,and 1 great-grandson. She opened the Gillum House Bed & Breakfast in 1996. She has also served Shinnston as a Councilman in the past, now serving as City Clerk, Tourist Information Center, and on several Boards and Commissions, as well as belonging to several service clubs in the City. She is in the Shinnston Community Band, on the Board of the North Bend Rail-Trail Foundation, and BedPo
