What’s old is news again when it comes to cool cultural finds. Take for example, drive-in movies. Back in their heyday of the 1950s and ’60s, this form of outdoor entertainment was all the rage – and it’s easy to see why. Viewing your favorite movies on the big screen from the comfort of your car with loved ones and friends is a super fun experience. While there aren’t that many of these retro gems left across the U.S., you can still find a few that are well worth the search. Take for example, the Mansfield Drive-in Theatre & Marketplace in Mansfield, CT, the only drive-in theater left in Eastern Connecticut, and it just happens to be conveniently located a mere three miles from The Daniel Rust House in Coventry, CT.

Movie enthusiasts can rejoice in the fact that the innkeepers of this B&B understand your dedication and excitement for the drive-in. So much so that they offer a special package to help guests make the most of it! The Dinner & a Movie Special includes $25 coupon for dinner for two at Coventry’s historic Bidwell Tavern, known for its vast array of beers on tap along with a complete dinner menu; two tickets to the drive-in movie and a snack bag; plus, a full country breakfast that will be waiting for guests after they spend a comfortable night in one of the inn’s historic rooms. After check-out the next day, guests can travel back to the drive-in grounds for the Sunday morning flea market (entrance fee not included).
This package is a hot ticket with guests, so be sure to get yours soon. “We have had guests who have returned monthly to enjoy a night at the movies every time the show changes,” reveals innkeeper Cathy Mitchell, “and some of our guests really enjoyed themselves by putting two lawn chairs in the back of their pickup truck and watching the movie, truly, al fresco!”
Package price is based on one night, double occupancy, and is available from April 1st to the last weekend in September only. Note: Please add $45.00 to room rate for this offer.
