Maureen Outsider's InnRunning an inn has more than its’ share of rewards, but I’ve never spoken to an innkeeper who would classify it as an easy job. Last year, we got to see Tori and Dean screw up again and again on their reality tv hit ‘Dean and Tori – Inn Love’. We’ve just received word that a new B&B based reality show is currently filming at an inn somewhere in Tennessee with a motley crew of perennial reality tv show stars as the innkeepers. We’re taking odds here at BnBFinder. Will it be breakfast in bed…or will they wreck it instead?

The show is called Outsider’s Inn, and will begin airing on Country Music Television August 15, 2008. The trio of innkeepers include Ms. Maureen (‘Marcia Brady’) McCormick, who is also an accomplished country singer. Carnie (‘Wilson-Phillips Alum and daughter of Beach Boy Brian’) Wilson and Bobby (‘New Edition married to Whitney Houston’) Brown. Each of the three will have their own specific duties while making the inn run smoothly. Ms. McCormick is the head innkeeper, Bobby Brown is the entertainment director and Carnie Wilson will take over kitchen duties as head chef.

Entertainment director? The challenges each week will involve ‘eclectic houseguests’ which would seem to be a step towards the ‘reality’ of reality programming. You can be certain we’ll be following Outsider’s Inn very closely, as we know most of you will as well [This has nothing to do with a certain persons long standing crush on the eldest Brady sister] . This is exciting news, and will absolutely put the idea of staying at a B&B in front of more and more people. As always, we’ll let you know whenever we hear anything new.

Are there any innkeepers out their who think there inn would make a fun reality show?

  1. I’m sure Carol Brady, Patron Saint of Innkeepers can make everything spic and span before things go too far off the rails! Let’s hope George Glass doesn’t call asking for a reservation…

  2. The every day operations of a B&B can be hectic – plumbing problems, computer problems, constant phone calls, wrecked linens, gardens going wild, people dropping in (don’t ring the doorbell and just walk in), but when I tell the stories of our guests – eclectic to say the least – people are astounded and tell me I should write a book. I don’t know if it is our location in a university town or it is because we are close to Interstate 80, but we have had some zingers! So if our B&B was the basis for a reality show, I think viewers would think it was a spoof. We have come to the realization that the word dysfunction is the norm when describing people and families today.

But if one can be flexible and turn on a dime and adjust schedules, life as an innkeeper is really interesting.

  3. I already write a blog about the day-to-day disasters at our rainforest bed and breakfast. You can see it at

I’m afraid that we were pretty disappointed in the “inn love” show finding it not really that real. There is a TV show set in Africa called “life is wild” that is a more realistic depiction of a bed and breakfast.

  4. Hey bringing bed and breakfasts to the front of people’s minds cannot hurt! Esp with celebrities. Everyone loved the Newhart version and what a BORE that was! So I think some humor and spice will be in order for this show. Who knows, we might be surprised.

Get your gnomes ready and bric-a-brac for the attack tho. Aren’t all B&B’s dusty clutter doiley filled lodgings? (PS I have a gnome in my foyer an innkeeper friend gave me and it stands guard against bad guests!)
