Julie Bolthuis, and sidekick Jabu, look forward to meeting you and having you as our guests. Jabu is very photogenic which is why he gets his picture here! Julie grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and after graduating from Michigan State University she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to complete her internship in Music Therapy. After 18 years working in long term care Julie decided to pursue her dream of owning a B&B. Julie decided to work at a B&B to learn the business before purchasing a property and was fortunate to find a job as a co-innkeeper at a historic property, The 1811 House, in Manchester, Vermont. In September 2002 she left the Midwest and moved to New England. After five years, it was time to purchase a B&B of her own. The mountains of Vermont were wonderful, but Julie was missing the water, so Maine was a logical next step. Julie, and business partners, purchased Newcastle Inn in May 2008. The restoration and updating of the inn has truly been a labor of love. When time allows, Julie enjoys going to the farm to spend time on horseback furthering her riding skills. Of course, Jabu, helps to create balance and is most insistent on daily walks and frisbee toss.
