With advanced notice guests departing early can receive a to-go breakfast that will best anything from a drive through window. The Thomas Brabson House was completed in 1854 by one of the sons of John Brabson, who moved to the area from Virginia in the late 1700s. John Brabson purchased a ferry crossing the French broad river and began to establish a large farming operation. Two of his sons, Thomas, and Benjamin, formed a company catering to the ferry traffic as well as the surrounding residents of the Boyds Creek community. Thomas built a two-story frame dwelling in the Federal I-house style, that was embellished with a Greek Revival style portico. This home, along with a similar plantation home built the following year for Benjamin D. Brabson, made up two of the many dwellings located on the family's 10,000-acre Brabson Ferry Plantation. As the Brabsons supported the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War, most members of the family were forced to flee, and the house became a local headquarters for the Union Army. Several family members eventually returned, however, and by the end of the 19th century had rebuilt the plantation and ferry. (Jones, 1997)
