  • Over 11,000 years ago this beautiful coastline was populated by the  indigenous people who utilized this land for its rich resources and  proximity to the pacific ocean.  Since then this land has been populated by the Spanish and British  explorers, from James Cook to Sir Francis Drake. Many European  expeditions came through the Oregon Coast to take advantage of ideal proximity to the ocean. It wasn't until the  19th century, with the completion of the coastal railways, that this  breathtaking area began to develop into an economic epicenter for  logging and commercial fishing. Since the turn of the century the Oregon Coast has continued to grow and become a national treasure that is visited by many all year round.
