Welcome to paradise, otherwise known as Healdsburg, CA. Healdsburg is famous for being a haven for grape lovers, a relaxing getaway for couples, and a fantastic place to stay for a magical bed & breakfast experience.
The town of Healdsburg was laid out in 1857, and within a couple decades, the town’s Plaza had become the hub of village life. By 1900, new structures ringed the Plaza, including one known as the Kruse Building, which housed Wells Fargo & Company’s offices and express coach stop, Healdsburg Shoe House, Langhart’s photography studio and a dental office. As the town grew and prospered, various businesses occupied spaces in the Kruse Building. Some 82 years after it was built, local resident Jenny Genkins purchased the edifice and turned it into a bed-and-breakfast inn, which operated until 2004. Spurred by the need for seismic retrofitting, the building underwent a major renovation in 2004. Though it now offers the comforts of a modern structure, many original features remain, including exposed interior brick walls (the work of 19th Century Italian stone masons), and the beautiful, original staircase. Soon after the renovation was completed in 2005, Four Sisters Inns began operating the Healdsburg Inn on the Plaza in the historic Kruse Building…still the best address in town.

In 2000, a local Sonoma winemaker approached former Four Sisters Inns President Shelley Post to discuss a piece of property he owned in town, just a block off the Sonoma Plaza. She agreed that the location seemed ideal for a small hotel, perfect for guests who would enjoy walking right out the door to the shops, restaurants and historic attractions such as the 1823 Mission San Francisco Solano. Construction of the Inn at Sonoma took place in 2002, with Shelley applying her innkeeper’s eye to all phases of development. She worked closely with California designer Shirley Jensen to create a warm and hospitable environment, in sync with the casual Sonoma wine country lifestyle. Their instincts were spot-on; from the moment it opened, Inn at Sonoma has been a favorite with visitors who appreciate special touches like the outdoor hot tub and fireplaces in every guest room. In 2013, a detached cottage on the property was completely remodeled adding eight guestrooms to the Inn at Sonoma. Rooms in the Vintner’s Cottage boast either one king or two queen beds, each with a fireplace, and four with jetted tubs.
