The Inn on Mill Creek Bed & Breakfast is nestled two miles into Pisgah National Forest, between Old Fort and Black Mountain, NC, about 25 minutes east of Asheville. Get some fresh air and connect with nature on our more than seven private wooded acres, on which you'll find several garden spaces, a walking labyrinth, a boardwalk over a half-acre of wetlands, a pond, and a small apple orchard, as well as plenty of seating indoors and out. A relaxed, casual atmosphere influenced by beautiful forest scenery awaits.
For adventurous travelers, the Inn on Mill Creek is the perfect home base for hiking and mountain biking in Pisgah National Forest, exploring a robust state park system including Mount Mitchell State Park and Chimney Rock State Park, bird watching (the Inn on Mill Creek is a site on the North Carolina Birding Trail, Mountains Region), and fishing. We partner with expert guides to create stellar outdoor experiences for guests.
Additional area attractions include Biltmore Estate and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. To round out your stay, excellent local restaurants and breweries, art galleries and shops can be found in nearby Marion, Old Fort, and Black Mountain, as well as Asheville.
When you return from the day's adventures... or if you'd like to do a lot of nothing during your stay... you can take it easy in one of five spacious and comfortable rooms inspired by the beautiful National Forest where we reside. Enjoy a great night's rest and in the morning, enjoy a made-from-scratch breakfast served in the dining solarium overlooking Pisgah National Forest and one of the Inn's gardens. Our goal is to provide a peaceful place where you can take your vacation at your own pace.
Your hosts, Brigette and Dave Walters, have been sharing their peaceful spot in Pisgah National Forest, with guests since moving to the Asheville area from Ohio in 2007.
Dave is an engineer-turned-innkeeper and keeps all systems working smoothly at the Inn on Mill Creek, while designing and building cool new things on the property (check out the boardwalk!). He also answers to the moniker "Chef Dave" and is responsible for engineering fabulous breakfasts from scratch each morning.
Brigette takes care of making sure the Inn on Mill Creek is comfortable and cozy and serves as our "Cruise Director", helping with any questions you have about the area and what to do. She has a keen eye for detail and an excellent memory so if you have a question about a hiking trail, waterfall, local shop, or even which restaurants have the best desserts, Brigette is the one to ask.
Rosco the rescue pug turned 12-ish in 2020 and heads up the Inn on Mill Creek's Department of Leisure, following in the footsteps of beloved innpugs Csaba and Bugsy, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge at the ages of 14 and 15 years old. Innpug Rosco can typically be spotted following Innkeeper Brigette around or getting his beauty rest in the office.
