The theme of the new reality show Tori & Dean: Inn Love seems to suggest that B&Bs for younger guests is a new idea, but we disagree.  Sure, bed and breakfasts accommodate guests of all ages, but there are many inns that specifically cater to a younger and more modern clientele.

From minimalist and chic furnishings and modern amenities such as wireless internet, iPod docks and satellite television to just cool things, many B&Bs are aware that a hip young crowd is out there, looking for a B&Bs to fit their needs and style.

  1. Trendy and chic is the theme we used when we converted our 10 room Bed & Breakfast to a twenty three room Boutique Hotel. We have MP3 hook-ups, large flat screen Plasma TV’s, Molton Brown bath amenities, Fiji water for turndown service and our mini bars in rooms are stocked with Dean & Deluca snacks.

  2. I’m not sure how trendy and chic we are, but we know how to have fun, and it’s reflected in the 20- and 30-something age range of most of our guests. We offer packages that involve whitewater rafting, llama treks, couples massages and even rock-climbing. This ain’t Bob Newhart’s B&B. 3. People do not consider the heartland of Iowa to be trendy, chic, and upscale, but that is Iowa’s big secret, especially here in the vibrant, festive community of Iowa City, Iowa the home to The University of Iowa. A Bed and Breakfast The Golden Haug came into being in 1990 as a somewhat fashionable place with all private baths, king beds, whirlpool, over-sized Kohler birthday bath (large clawfoot tub)and suites, not just rooms. But we heard comments that the younger generation with two incomes of spendable income wanted more amenities, larger suites, and more privacy. So two years ago we created an inn with large suites, private living rooms with fireplace, large comfortable sofa and chairs, massive pillared king beds with luxurious bedclothes, two person whirlpools, private patios, and full gourmet breakfast delivered to the suite to be enjoyed in plush top of the line robes. No need to dress for breakfast here!

  4. We have put a whole new twist on ‘trendy’. We are a 1792 inn with WiFi and DVD’s in every room -we will even program and lend you a GPS for the day. But the most important trend is that we are a green hotel – we operate a sustainable inn and restaurant – supporting local farms and producers. We were just awarded a Sustainable Cuisine award from Sante Magazine and were just named to the Governor of VT’s list of Green Hotels in the Green Mountain State. The inn features state of the art energy efficient infrastructure and contemporary cusine in a gorgeous old building.

  5. 25-45yrs. old is our average guest from NYC or Toronto. A multitude of reasons equate to why 10 Fitch is considered trendy and chic beginning with the size of our suites. Keeping this guest happy requires more than the average bed and breakfast…each suite boasts private baths (one of which is over 200sq ft and 14ft ceilings), private sitting rooms with actual wood burning fireplace and plasma tv’s and bedrooms with luxurious 600 thread count Anichini sheets. Sumptuous fabrics abound throughout the inn with lush silks and velvets everywhere from designers like Ralph Lauren and Thibaut. In addition to the spacious suites the inn also offers 3 additional sitting rooms in the main part of the inn for the guest to enjoy as well as a terrace and sunken garden.

Packages are our specialty ranging from things like chaffeur driven wine tours, couples massages fireside in the privacy of their own suite, day of horse back riding or mountain bikes complete with picnic basket lunch, champagne and strawberries, wine and fine cheese plates, gourmet breakfast, breakfast in bed, boating tours of the Finger Lakes with dinner cruise…just to name a few.

We eagerly seek the young and hip trendy guest who will appreciate all of the special touches and attention to detail that abound at 10 Fitch.

  6. The Villa was one of the first B&Bs in the Catskills to cater specifically to young design enthusiasts who crave country life but find its traditionally rustic charms somewhat terrifying. Eighty percent of our guests hail from NYC, with the remaining balance traveling from farther afield (Austrailia, Berlin, London, even New Jersey!). Though we are situated in a rural area with plenty of birds, mountains, trees and deer, we are only four miles from the center of town (Saugerties–it’s adorable!) and 9 miles from Woodstock. Our guests are everything we’d hope they would be: adventurous, intelligent, creative, educated, sassy, interesting and best of all, lovers of contemporary design and modern art–two things the Villa is full of. Our property is chic & minimal, but also quite comfortable, offering the best aspects of country life with a smart, urban sesibility. Platform beds, Eyptian cotten sheets, Knoll & Eames furniture, original artwork, wireless internet, cool tunes on the iPOD, complimentary cocktails on Friday nights, delicious full breakfast…it all comes together for a relaxing getaway that’s only two hours from the chaos of Manhattan.

  7. After the first episode of “Tori & Dean” we wrote to the producers and suggested they do more research. We are a historic inn in Virginia that offers all the upscale amenities demanded by today’s young, sophisticated travelers–free WIFI, flat panel Cable TV/DVD, multi-disc CD systems, oversized heated whirlpool tubs beside the fireplace, featherbeds, breakfast delivered to your door, all the activity information you could want OR total privacy to be left ALONE–we even to “Self Check In”–you are greeted by soft lights, soft music and your cottage awaits YOU, without any interaction with the inn keepers. Oh–did I mention our guests are primarily successful “thirty-somethings” from the Washington, D. C. metro area. The trend toward bed and breakfast character with upscale amenities situatated in a unique property is definitely HOT, but not new. Our guestbooks would easily attest to this! Thanks for the opportunity to help set the record straight relative to the “Tori & Dean” misinformation.

  8. Perhaps the only bed-and-breakfast in a luxury high-rise in New York City, we are located in Chelsea, itself one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Manhattan. Our our furniture is part Chinese antique part contemporary and our silk pillows and bedspreads are custom-made. We currently have three 1-bedroom suites available.

  9. We may not be “trendy”, but we aren’t full of “froo=froo” either! Our log home is filled with fascinating books, original art in the bathrooms as well as around the Inn, private balconies and steam showers as well as jetted tubs! No sounds of modern day life intrude on the peace and quiet here on the mountaintop in the undiscovered “quiet corner” of Northeast Tennessee where the mountains meet the lakes.
Come share the magic of the mountains where every season has a reason to visit.
As to the tv show….I’ll watch one more episode but so far I’m not impressed with the “players” or their take on running a business! Yes, innkeeping is a business!

  10. Our Condo – not just for cyclists but for all active adults is in the heart of the best of the Pacific Northwest cycling, we are 20 minutes to the ferry to the San Juan Islands, local hikes, just 20 minutes, or less, drive time to trail heads with awesome view to San Juan Islands OR 1 to 2 hour drive to hiking trails to Alpine meadows in the North Cascades – the “Little Alps of America”. Gorgeous saltwater beaches and kayaking for experienced as well as guided kayak tours. We provide a library of good books, satellite TV, and a number of very successful brewpubs as well as fine dining.
Youthful, active, outdoor oriented guests can get the most out of our terrific location and a peaceful, serene lodging with a 20 mile wide panorama view across farmlands to Mount Baker.
While we do our part to make guests have an interesting lodging the fact that our location is so condusive to what it is that a younger, active, outdoor and environmentally oriented guest appreciates and seeks.
We also have wireless availability. We are in the lush, abundant Skagit Valley an hour north of Seattle, WA

  11. When we designed our B&B in Mendocino County, CA, our first priority was guest privacy and our second was luxury amenities. As a young couple ourselves, with a young daughter, we needed our own privacy as well.

Our guesthouse caters to families – roomy with a kitchen and laundry facilities. The master bedroom is decorated dramatically with chocolate brown and crimson and the bedside whirlpool is great for Mom & Dad.

Our two smaller cottages are specifically for couples (or couples with an infant). They feature aromatherapy steam showers, footspas, large whirlpool tubs (one with a waterfall), heated towel bars and “morning kitchens.”

All are tastefully decorated and offer high-speed internet connections, satellite tv with vcr/dvd, CD players and fireplaces. We deliver a full breakfast each morning and serve it in the privacy of each cottage.

Our “Media Room” is available to all guests and offers games, DVDs, CDs, area brochures, and golf clubs.

We live in a seperate house ourselves and while we are available to guests around the clock, we do not hover over them.

I suspect Tori and Dean would have been surprised to visit our place! Our guests (including a few celebrities so far) think we’re pretty “hip and chic”. The privacy and amenities aren’t too shabby either!

  12. My husband & I spent a wonderful weekend in Savannah Ga.At the AmethystInn at Sarah’s Garden. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The Inn keepers were very pleasant and helpful. We are now hooked on B&B’s Maureen & Tom

  13. Well David, Dora and Stanley da HOUND are bringing contemporary European boutique style to New England. Our 1830’s Vermont inn is also environmentally friendly (Vermont Governors award to prove it!) largely organic and we were voted 2006 B & B Innkeepers of the year by the Vermont Hospitality Council.

Our bedrooms are not lacey, pink or Victorian! We have flat screen media centers in all bedrooms, big beds with organic duvets and unusual contemporary lighting, free wi-fi and candy bars. We are passionate about food (sausages and tea a specaility!) and have a simple charging structure.

For 11 months of the year we take one night bookings everyday.

We stand or fall by what our customers say about our inn, and we aim to be relaxed and friendly. We hope you will see we are different… room even has two claw foot tubs in the bathroom and in another the tub lights up!

  14. I would love more information about some of these bed and breakfast’s that are near NYC/New England. Some have left comments, without the name of their inn or b&b…

  15. Our Vintage Sol B&B in San Diego, CA is definately unique. The small studio has a Spanish/Mexican flavor and features work from local artists. Not fine art–fun art! Lots of recycled ojects and ironwork. We are mixed media artist and organic gardeners. We wanted a fresh young approach to the standard B&B. Lots of vintage and kitchy accents but modern comfortable style.

  16. The Inn at Dupont Circle North in the trendy downtown area of Dupont Circle is a great example of the merger between modern amenities and the timeless elegance of a Federal Townhouse at an affordable price.
