Asheville Bed and Breakfast | Albemarle Inn

If you’ve had Asheville, North Carolina on your radar, then there is not a more elegant way to experience the Blue Ridge Mountain town than as a guest at the Albemarle Inn. Located just a couple miles from the heart of downtown Asheville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you will have endless activities to choose from as a guest at the inn. The tranquil, historic setting of the inn itself is one of Asheville’s greatest wonders.

A rich, fascinating history

Dating back to 1909, the Albemarle was originally built by Dr. Carl V. Reynolds. The doctor constructed the Neoclassical Revival style house for his own private residence while specializing in his practice of treating tuberculosis in the local area. It was sold just 20 years later to the Grove Park School where it became known as a prestigious private school for girls. In 1980, it was sold to the Mellins of Florida who transformed it into a bed and breakfast.. Throughout the 100+ years since its construction, the inn has welcomed a plethora of international and revered guests through its doors, including the famous Hungarian composer Bela Bartok. Inspired by surrounding nature during his stay, Bartok composed his Third Concerto for Piano at the inn, more commonly known as the “Asheville Concerto.”
