In honor of Back to the Future Day – B&B's of the Future!

Fire up the flux capacitor – it’s Back to the Future Day! DeLorean lovers and time travel movie enthusiasts couldn’t be more excited for this momentous occasion. Of course while we wax nostalgic for the adventures of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown, it also got us thinking: what will B&B’s of the future be? Because even if where we’re going we don’t need roads, we will always want to wake up someplace special. So just for fun, here are a few predictions (and we use that term loosely!) from the BnBFinder team:

1) B&B’s in space! That’s right. Years from now, once spaceflights are on regular rotations after moons and planets are colonized, intergalactic guests are going to need somewhere to sleep. Craving the ideal local experience on say…Mars, these weary travelers will want a home-away-from-home where their hosts will know the ins and outs of the area, which is something you know innkeepers (even Martian ones) always excel at.

2) Food in the blink of an eye! Innkeepers are always coming up with the most innovative recipes to ensure breakfast is a bounty of exceptional flavors every morning. That kind of work takes some serious time and dedication. In the future, the daughter of one such innkeeper, who doubles as a food technologist, invents a new high-tech food processor with telekinetic powers. Once an innkeeper comes up with an idea for a dish, the machine whips it up in just mere minutes – no muss, no fuss.

3) Time is finally on our side! Speaking of time, and always being crunched for it, in the future – similar to NYC Metrocards – we’ll have life cards. If you are willing to pay an additional fee (and who wouldn’t be for something like this!), you can add minutes to the hour, day, or week in case everything you wanted to get done during that time just couldn’t be accomplished. This is our favorite invention by far because it’s no longer now or never, innkeepers (as well as guests) can happily schedule things for whenever!
