Leafy Ideas – There’s no reason why leaf peeping during fall foliage should be limited to scenic car drives or hikes. Why not discover new ways to enjoy the fall season? Mary White, Founder and CEO of BnBFinder shared some of the most unique bed and breakfast fall foliage specials today on Martha Stewart Radio’s “Living Today” with Mario Bosquez.

Ever consider leaf peeping by the sea? That’s exactly what you can do at A Rendezvous Place Bed and Breakfast in Long Beach, Washington. The “Fall at the Beach” special is good for a two night stay and half-off on a third night stay. Grab a blanket or a chair and lay on the beach and watch green, gold and red leaves provide a backdrop against rolling waves. Keep a look out for a whale or two and walk along a paved trail along the ocean sand dunes.

You can also sail and peep at The Fox and the Grapes Bed & Breakfast in Lodi, New York. The “Sail Lake Seneca” package is a cozy package for two which includes a full gourmet breakfast, a two night stay, a day trip sailing on Lake Seneca complete with a picnic basket and romantic dinner for two. If you’re worried about getting sea sick, the inn also offers hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides and mid-week specials.

Get a bird’s eye view of the changing of the leaves at Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford, Vermont. Guests can zip-line their way down a mountain top and soar like a bird. Special autumn menu like wild rice pancakes with fall vegetables or Waterford pork loin with apples and wild mushrooms will give you the zip you need to regain your energy!

For guests looking for a more chilling adventure, look no further than St. Francis Inn in St. Augustine, Florida. The oldest inn in the oldest city also has one of the oldest guests at their inn. “Lily,” the inn’s permanent visitor is said to walk aimlessly around the inn grieving for a lost lover. Guests have noted strange sounds, small pranks, falling books and even moving pictures. Ask for the “Paranormal Paranoia Package” to learn more about ghosts in St. Augustine and a ghostly walking tour.

Gothic lovebirds can also plan the wedding of their dreams this fall at Canyon Ferry Mansion B&B Lake Inn in Townsend, Montana. The “Halloween Town Gothic Elopement/Wedding” lets couples say “I do,” at midnight decked out in black. Heavy organ music sets the tone for the ceremony followed by a celebratory red velvet cake. The inn provides special picnics and maps of nearby ghost towns for the happy newlyweds.

Unfortunately, the fall themed interview left little time for Mary to share her other suggested recommendations such as: Mayhurst Inn in Orange, Virginia; The Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast in Sparta, Wisconsin; Whitney’s Inn in Jackson, New Hampshire; The Groveland Hotel at Yosemite National Park in Groveland, California; Rosewood Country Inn in Bradford, New Hampshire; Gettysburg Battlefield Bed & Breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and the Inn at Herr Ridge in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
