Not Your Typical Valentine’s Getaway

Staying inside and snuggling up near the fire may sound like the perfect way to spend a winter getaway, and it’s a cozy idea, however, romance and winter fun await outdoors as well. One of our favorite ideas can be found near Wisconsin Bed & Breakfast inns. Enjoy an evening hiking, snowshoeing or skiing along a trail lit by flickering flames of candles or tiki torches at state parks across Wisconsin and then return to the warmth and comfort of a Wisconsin B&B. Many of the parks are offering Valentine Candlelight Ski and Hike Nights which include bonfires, hot chocolate, and some parks will even be proving grills to cook on.

Candlelight hike and ski events can be found on the Wisconsin State Parks website. Choose from events like Lake Kegonsa State Park Valentines Day Candlelight Ski where you can cross country ski along 2 miles of wooded and prairie trails that will be lit with hundreds of glowing luminaries. After skiing warm up by the bonfire and enjoy drinks and baked goods provided by friends of the park. Then spend a wonderful stay at the hospitable Naeset-Roe Inn Bed & Breakfast which is conveniently located just 5 miles and about 10 min. from the park. To make this Valentine’s Day a truly memorable one the inn has put together a Romantic Valentine’s Getaway package with add-ons.

Winter will soon be a distant memory so choose a Wisconsin Bed & Breakfast and ask about candlelight ski schedules or find a romantic getaway near you and make your own special memories.
