Several years ago, my husband showed me an article in the New York Times. He wanted to go kayak fishing in Stonington. In researching the area, I imagined it was I place I, too, might like. It's a lovely New England village set on a penninsula. The water views are beautiful. The Times article recommended the Orchard Street Inn, but we were somewhat skeptical in that it is the only B&B in town. We were so pleasantly surprised. The rooms are uncluttered and elegant, the baths are sparkling clean. Lodging in the guest cottage is private, but you also have the sense that you're visiting good friends. We had a wonderful time. We enjoy simple pleasures: we read outdoors, went bicycle riding and rented kayaks. We booked a half-day sail from Mystic. On our second visit, we toured two Wineries (at Regina's suggestion) and ended our day with a glass of wine on our patio. There are no drawbacks here. I recommend it highly. Oh, and one suggestion: if you like scallops, take a small insulated bag along and bring some "Bomster" scallops home. They're scrumptious!

This was our third stay back with Richard and Regina at the Orchard Street Inn. The accomodations and the hospitality are far above and beyond anywhere we have stayed. The rooms are very quaint and well decorated, making you feel very much at home but yet excited about being away. In the morning there is an amazing breakfast in the Main Inn that is outstanding. We recommend Regina's French Toast. Coupling that with the quaint seaport village of Stonington and the great seafood restaurantss, it is without doubt a fantastic romantic getaway without going too far from home. The Orchard Street Inn is undoubtly a destination worth getting to from anywhere. We will be back ! Leaving there instills the feeling that you have made great friends that you would go and visit again...
