We had a great time at The Woodstocker. It's within walking distance of downtown Woodstock, Vermont, and the establishment is clean and modern. David and Dora are outstanding hosts--and Daisy Doo is a cute pooch. The inn has a great library--so even on a rainy day there is something to do. We would stay there again.

Widely acclaimed, this Inn did not really meet our expectations. Decor is very eclectic, but not particularly New England, cozy or quaint. Entrance is only through the home's "side", which is reached after a walk up the unpaved driveway. If raining, or within days of a rain, expect the walk up to be muddied. A variety of slippers are provided to insure keeping the Inn's floors clean; quaint at first arrival, but a nuisance thereafter. Beddings and linens were fine, and the breakfast was very good. Innkeepers were very hospitable (but I guess wine cheese receptions for many B&Bs have gone the way of the floppy disk?) Adequate, but neither we, nor the couple we traveled with could find the basis for all the awards they boast.

A very fun night at The Woodstocker Inn - it really was the quintessential Vermont B/B. Very charming hosts - friendly, helpful, but not too intrusive. Very delicious breakfast (try the homemade granola/mueslix). Not your normal room layout, but the bathroom was spectacular...

I would recommend The Woodstocker Inn - especially to those looking for a taste of England in Vermont (you'd think you were staying at an Inn in the English countryside).

We'd never previously stayed at B&B, always preferring a bigger hotel, but staying at the Woodstocker will make us think twice in future. Spotlessly clean, lovely house with modern and individually designed rooms. Hosts were friendly, welcoming and happy to answer queries without ever being too over bearing. We spent a lovely hour in the library without being disturbed by other guests or host. Nice walk into town which was lovely, a few restaurants but quite expensive. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

We recently spent a couple nights at the Woodstocker Inn. One of the things that made our experience so wonderful is David and Dora. The hosts are fabulous, very welcoming, easy to chat with and full of suggestion about local dining and activity. Our room, the Westminster was wonderful. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was outstanding. The 2 bath tubs, the skylight and the little blue lights made our experience very relaxing. The modern look of the room was exactly what we were looking for.
We truly appreciated the no “outdoor shoes” and no kids policy. Having kids of our owns spending time away from kids was great.
The location couldn't be better--within easy walking distance of the village.
Breakfast…mmm were delicious… Loved Dora’s granola and fruit compote. Love all of the it… the sausage was also very good..
All in all, we had a great stay and are already planning our return visit to the Woodstocker.
PS: They are using Seventh Generation paper products!!!

Our first Vermont visit - our first B & B, and we certainly hit the jackpot! Dora & David's energy for their gem reflects throughout all the property -- lovely rooms, music at breakfast, delicious local fare, comfy bed, fresh air, clean bathroom, peace and quiet. Having a common snack kitchen off the well-stocked library, "no shoes inside" policy, personal touches for decor and comfort -- the Woodstocker Inn definitely calls us back for a return visit one day. We were so busy touring during our vacation we didn't have much time to just enjoy the Inn and the town -- aha! There's always a reason to go back!

From the very first contact with David and Dora I felt welcome. I offer "C to the Fifth Power" as a way to describe this wonderful Green Inn ~ Comfortable, Clean, Caring, Cozy and Congenial." From the comfortable beds, to the abundant breakfasts and the genial manner, the Woodstocker Inn is a place that beckons you to return. That's what I did this year, having stayed there in 2008. It is clear these Innkeepers love being innkeepers, and those of us who stay there reap the rewards of their energies. That they are responsive to guest suggestions is another plus, however in all cases they maintain the integrity of being a Green Inn, so we all benefit.

The stay was a spur of the moment suggestion from a friend and she had given me such an outstanding referral that I jumped on it. I contacted the Inn immediately and David gladly took my reservation and provided me with plenty of details about the Inn and my room. Upon checking in, Dora was more than helpful with nearby dinner suggestions that were easy to walk to and that passed me through lilac scented delights as well as the covered bridge. Woodstock is easy to fall in love with. It has won my heart as has the Woodstocker Inn. Dora and David were great and to my surprise, breakfast was outstanding. It exceeded all expectation of 'just normal' since 'normal' was not what I got! They really know how to please a guest. I was greeted with the freedom to make choices as well as having more options than I was prepared for...I wanted it all and it ALL was scrumptious! I will return for sure and I hope it's soon!

Spring at the Woodstocker Inn

We had a lovely stay with Dora and David at the Woodstocker Inn this weekend. The Woodstocker is a perfect place to stay for people who are looking for a fresh, very clean, modern B&B with attention paid to being green. All of the comforts of home (including the no shoes policy which is actually really comfy!) We really enjoyed the European touches like french press coffee and english breakfast and the fun demeanor of our British hosts. The libraries are relaxing and full of interesting reads. We stayed in the Westminster room which was worth the cost for the luxury of side by side claw foot soaking tubs under a skylight.

For those who have never been to Woodstock, the Woodstocker Inn has a great location. A wonderful little walk to the main street area through a covered bridge and a short walk to the trails that lead to the top of Mt. Tom- an excellent way to start the day!

My wife and I had to make a business trip to VT. While there, we thought it'd be fun to treat ourselves to a night in a great B&B. After a long and exhaustive search of B&Bs in the state, each one more frilly and dainty than the one before it, we finally found the Woodstocker. OMG, what a relief to finally find a B&B that was a bit more like us. Modern, and yet still very charming, warm and friendly....this place is the real deal. We stayed in the room with the 2 tubs and we loved it. Dora and David are great hosts and were helpful during all parts of the stay, from recommending dinner options to recommending sights to see the next morning. David makes an excellent traditional English breakfast and the house itself is immaculate, full of snacks, and has enough books on its shelves to serve as the town library. I hope that we have a chance to spend another night at the Woodstocker soon. If you are not into the whole frilly B&B scene, give the Woodstocker a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

This Inn is a beautiful place to stay, located in a wonderful town, and prime Vermont location. The Inn Keepers are attentive without being intrusive, and a great deal of fun to talk with.

The rooms are wonderfully decorated, as is the entire Inn, and the food is excellent- made with local products as well as some from England.

A great value!

The hosts were charming, the inn is modern and refreshing, the baths were sumptuous and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious.
This was our second visit to the excellent Woodstocker Inn and it had thankfully retained the charm and attention to detail of our first trip. It is a truly welcoming, homely, quirky yet attractive B & B. Not your traditional chintz and all the better for it. Communal rooms have a very distinctive style and the cosy library and adjacent "refreshment station" are the ideal place to relax with a cup of tea and slice of homemade cake after a day out in the cold.
Rooms are thoughtfully decorated with bathrooms particularly so.We stayed in Bradford which had recently been refurbished with a pebble bath - very comfortable to bathe in by the way!
Breakfasts are a justifiable highlight with the homemade muesli & compote and locally sourced organic sausages deserving a special mention.
D2 are superb hosts who have acquired much local knowledge so can offer advice on a variety of topics from where to hire skis at a reasonable rate to local restaurant recommendations.
Just not keen on communal slippers!
Overall a wonderful place to stay.

After a sufficient breakfast with fabulous homemade fruit compote, the guest pantry is a great addition. Guests can help themselves to coffee, tea and snacks whenever the mood strikes. Another huge bonus is the location, which is a mere 5 mintute walk to the city center and literally steps from the Marsh-Billings National Park.
David and Dora have brought England to New England with an engaging and genuine hospitality for their guests. This was our second visit in just over a year and this time we made the fall which added something extra to our stay. The Woodstocker has a character which sets it apart from other B&B's we have stayed in. There is an ambiance in the Woodstocker that allows you to be as sociable or unsociable as you want to be. No pressure -its your choice. Our choice will be to return for a third time in 2009.

Staying at the Woodstocker Inn for three nights in August was our first experience of B & B's in the USA and we were thoroughly impressed.
David and Dora were excellent hosts making us feel very much at home and provided great advice on places to visit and where to eat. The freshly cooked to order breakfasts were first class.
The traditional appearance of the outside of the property gives no clue to the contemporary interior design. We stayed in the Westminster room which was very comfortable and had a bathroom to die for!
Having the use of the library and the 24 hour refreshment station created a home from home environment.
A top class establishment which I have no hesitation in recommending.

The town itself is idyllic and has so many wonderful options for spending your time but if you stay at the Woodstocker, you are going to be tempted never to leave the inn. The inkeepers make you feel so welcome from the get-go and no detail is overlooked. I have stayed at many B&B's but have never felt this comfortable. They're there when you need them but not breathing down your neck like at other places I've stayed. I especially loved the little snack kitchen and library that are open to guests at all hours.
We stayed in the Winchester room at the Woodstocker for 2 nights in June 2008 for a wedding. The entire inn had been reserved by the bride and groom for their closest friends, so the inn felt like a big house. In short, I cannot say enough good things about the Woodstocker. The owners, David and Dora, are friendly, warm, and professional. The inn's rooms are all simply and beautifully decorated, with a truly artistic eye for color and attention to detail with the lighting and the bathrooms in particular. The breakfast is delicious, the dining room is bright and welcoming, the library is cozy, and the kitchen -- where guests can help themselves to drinks and snacks anytime -- is a very nice feature. The bed is possibly the most comfortable we've ever slept in. We loved the sheets, the duvet, and the pillows. The towels are thick and plush, and the bathrobes are very comfortable. All of the products in the bathrooms are organic, and they smelled wonderful. There are fresh flowers, candy, and interesting magazines in each room.

For the quality of the accommodation, the price we paid, $250, is a real bargain (and some of the rooms are as low as $120). I've stayed at far more expensive hotels that were not as clean, not as comfortable, and not as artistically interesting; each room is unique, with its own character, and they all feel very contemporary. David and Dora are wonderful and we enjoyed talking to them.

My husband and I are already trying to figure out how we can get back up to the Woodstocker to stay for a longer time.

My husband and I have stayed at the Woodstocker for the past two years while in the area to run in a road race. We found the inn somewhat by chance on line and consider ourselves lucky to have stumbled upon the Woodstocker. The rooms are large and extremely clean and well-maintained. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms in each of the rooms in which we stayed were unique, fun and thoughtfully laid out. (I know this seems like high praise for bathrooms--you'll understand the rave if you see them. There are pictures on line but they do not really do the space justice.) Dora and David were terrific on both visits, each time greeting us promptly and showing us around, offering an early breakfast suitable to our run and this past year, even offering to let us come back and shower at the inn past what would ordinarily have been check-out time.

We highly recommend The Woodstocker and will certainly stay there again when in the Woodstock area.

We just came back from a college family weekend in west New Hampshire. We decided to stay across the Connecticut River in Woodstock, Vermont and are very glad we did.

We stayed at the Woodstocker Inn, just around the corner from the town's main square. Four things made our stay a great experience. First, the innkeepers, Dora and David, are affable, kind, helpful, and eager to make your stay comfortable. Second, the food, fresh from local organic farms to your table and hand-prepared by the innkeepers, tasted wonderful. We particularly liked the orange/grapefruit marmalade, hand-prepared by our innkeepers, and the tart cherry compote. The excellent marmalade at Lou Mitchell's in my home town of Chicago has nothing on the offering at the Woodstocker. Third, Woodstock itself is beautiful, nestled in rolling hills that warm your heart even on the kind of rainy days that greeted us when we arrived. Fourth, the Woodstocker Inn is clean. The Inn has a "no shoes" policy. To us, that was a good sign. Nothing will ruin our visit faster than poor hygienic conditions.

The Inn is in an old New England house with some rustic features, so one must be ready for an old home feel rather than a gleaming palace feel, but the ambience is entirely appropriate for the hills of Vermont. We are looking for a good excuse to go back to Vermont and visit the Woodstocker Inn again.

A return visit to the Woodstocker. A really relaxing visit as we stayed in the Richmond Suite with its wonderful quirky bathroom complete with spa bath, huge comfy bed and excellent music/entertainment system. Only ventured out to enjoy delicious breakfasts and visiting delightful town, local micro breweries and skiing at Suicide Six. Can really recommend this Inn and the hosts couldn't be more accommodating. We'll go back!

The Woodstocker Inn is a classic Vermont Inn with the style turned up a notch or two. Our room was spacious and well appointed with an exceptional bathroom--two large comfortable tubs--and wonderful attention to details. Dora and David, the innkeepers, are charming hosts, providing warm hospitality, but also respecting privacy. Breakfast was perfect, consisting of homemade granola, homemade fruit compote, organic yogurt, and cooked-to-order hot breakfast foods all sourced from local purveyors. Fresh-brewed coffee is served in individual French press pots. The Inn is within walking distance of Woodstock's main street and also Mt. Tom's trail head for those looking for a nice afternoon's hike. Overall, the Woodstock Inn is definitely worth the trip. And, of course, Stanley, the requisite canine, only adds to the charm.

As a New Yorker, I have found it most distressing when, skipping town for a "breather", to then eagerly arrive in the desired, otherwise refreshing surroundings, only to end up enduring musty carpets, dusty drapes, harsh chemical "cleansers" , and so -called air "fresheners" in a hotel or b&b. Manhattan bus fumes notwithstanding, I've ended up having to flee a chemically sickening "vacation" to restore my lungs inside our consciously eco-friendly apartment on Broadway! Whether visiting a city or the countryside, the notion of "green" lodgings is a godsend for me, as, of course, it is for our planet.
We arrived at The Woodstocker strained and exhausted from a long stretch of care giving for our respective elderly parents, who had endured simultaneous health crises. Especially under these circumstances, what a relief it was to be embraced as regular folks who are fully human, rather than treated coolly as "anti-family" because we happen to be a same-sex couple---of almost 25 years, no less! We don't yet have marriage equality, but no one can stop us from enjoying as many honeymoons as we can.The Woodstocker is a safe, clean, delightful, whimsical, delicious and inviting haven for all peace-loving people of good will.
Dora, David, and furry Stanley are gifted hosts: helpful, intelligent and available, yet not hovering (except, perhaps, sweetiepie Stanley when she is eager to be petted and patted at length!) Unless you are so unfortunate as to be allergic to dogs, go to the Woodstocker, and breathe!

We made the long drive from New York City to Woodstock to celebrate our anniversary. From the minute we arrived (David waited up for our late arrival to show us around the home and bring our luggage to our room) to our departure (it felt like leaving family) our weekend was superb. David and Dora are caring and entertaining innkeepers and Stanley is an adorable addition! Even though we only had two days away, we felt as rested as if we had been away for much longer!
Lovely hosts--wish we'd spent more time there so we could have had more time to chat. Access to a kitchenette for tea and snacks was a great touch and there's a cozy library in which to relax. Rooms were spacious. The Chester room on the front of the house is not for light sleepers (traffic noise) but the innkeepers kindly supply earplugs. Otherwise the room was great and there's a generous English breakfast to start the day off right.

Don't miss the Woodstocker if you are anywhere in the vicinity! The location is great, a stone's throw from the village and right on the path leading to some fabulous mountain trails. The inn itself is cozy, homely and welcoming with an outstanding library where one can sip tea all afternoon and peruse the shelves. Great little kitchen attached where good quality coffee and tea are available, not to mention a few slices of delicious cake. Breakfast is outstanding. homemade granola and fruit compote which are delicious as well as a hot breakfast. We were so impressed by the breakfast honestly. The rooms are clean, bright and equipped with all the comforts. Finally the hospitality of David and Dora makes you feel that you are genuinely as welcome as close friends of theirs and nothing is too much trouble. A real gem of a find!
