Time Out - Can you remember the last time you inhaled fresh, mountain air? Or dipped your feet in a cool, clear lake? If you can’t remember, make an excuse to enjoy the great outdoors this week during National Camping Week. You don’t have to rough it in the wild when you check in at Red Feather Ranch in Fort Collins, Colorado. The mountain getaway sits on 40 acres adjoining 300,000 acres of Roosevelt National Forest and Poudre River Canyon. The natural setting will inspire you to explore the terrain with a brisk, morning hike, take a mountain bike ride, fish uninterrupted in a secluded spot or enjoy an easy horseback ride. Once the day is over, you can look forward to coming back to the inn for homemade cookies and lemonade, as well as nightly chocolate truffles.
Natural wonders can also be found at Blue Lake Ranch, Bed and Breakfast Inn in Durango, Colorado. Located 30 minutes away from Mesa Verde National Park, this B&B also has its own private lake filled with rainbow and brook trout. Guests are allowed to fish, following a catch and release policy or ask the innkeeper to direct you to other private fishing areas. Guests interested in archaeology can visit the Ute Mountain Tribal Park, an Indian owned private park that requires a special guide who can point out standing archaeology sites followed by a picnic lunch.
You can find more outdoor activities at a Colorado bed & breakfast or search for more options on our Specials page under The Great Outdoors Package.
