We know many of you “just want to be there” for the Inauguration and while we can’t get you a ticket we might be able to help you find accommodations. DC bed & breakfasts are booked and have been for a long time, however, some Maryland Bed & Breakfasts and Virginia B&Bs that are close to public transportation are reporting some sporadic availability. Admittedly rooms are hard to find but if you are lucky you could find a gem like Celie’s Waterfront Inn in Baltimore, which is easily accessible to Union Station in DC by train and still has a room available.
If you plan to join the hundreds of thousands of people who will gather along Pennsylvania Avenue to watch the procession from the Capitol to the White House, be sure to bring a blanket as January in DC can be quite nippy.
Another suggestion is to take the day off, enjoy a night away and relax at a B&B close to home. You’ll have a delicious hot breakfast, warm comfortable accommodations (including a private bathroom) and you can witness history comfortably in front of a TV. And remember, the Inauguration falls the day after Martin Luther King Day so why not make it a long weekend getaway?
