My wife and I have been guests at Highlawn two or three times a year for over ten years and every time has been a wonderful experience. The Inn is beautifully furnished, impeccably clean and extremely quiet at all hours. We have stayed in four of the rooms in the main house and liked them all, although our favorite is a room that overlooks the town and its surrounding hills. The breakfasts prepared by the innkeeper, Sandy Kaufman are special. Egg dishes, bacon, sausage casaroles, vegetables, pastries, fruits, juices, etc, are served buffet-style in a spacious dining area. Highlawn is our favorite weekend retreat |

This was only our second experience staying at a Bed & Breakfast- so I don’t have too much to compare to; however, if I stay in another, I will have very high expectations now that I have experienced Highlawn Inn. My husband read all of the reviews, and, while a bit skeptical (not sure if the food is really all it was hyped up to be) he made the reservations. We were pleasantly surprised! The breakfast was a wonderful blend of homemade and gourmet goodness. The dinner was even better! I never thought an entire meal could be so delicious and satisfying from start to finish. The chef, she is a culinary genius. I had to beg her to promise that she would publish the cookbook that she is working on before the holidays! (While she did not promise that she would have it completed by December- she did say that she would work diligently on it- it will be my new go-to cookbook for special occasions!)
The Inn itself was very comfortable and pleasant. It is a great location to town- within walking distance to everything. The staff were helpful and did everything they could to answer all of our questions. I highly recommend the Highlawn Inn. Regardless of your expectations- you won’t be disappointed!

Berkeley Springs is a welcoming town and my wife & I always stay at the Highlawn Inn, a comfortable and charming B&B. Since it is only 2 hours outside of DC area, it is the perfect weekend getaway. On this trip we took my 81 year old mother who was visiting with us, so we indulged ourselves even further and stayed in the Bathkeeper’s Quarters – a warm and cozy a house just a couple of blocks away from the main property. It has all the comforts of home and then some – two nice bedrooms (queen beds), a quaint upstairs sitting area, a downstairs TV room with fireplace, a full kitchen and a luxurious, refreshing Jacuzzi. Wherever you stay at the Highlawn Inn, everything is light, airy and sparkling clean. Be sure to show up with a big appetite for the breakfasts are a gourmet, 5-star delight! Sandy Kauffman is an excellent cook and always has some new recipe for us to savor, using local produce and herbs from her own garden. Her extra-special Silver Service dinners on select Saturday nights are also worth reserving! In addition, Berkeley Springs has several shops, spas, and delicious local restaurants to enjoy all within walking distance. (We always visit Atasia Spa for a massage package and make sure to have dinners at both Tari’s and Lot 12.) Highlawn Inn is such a rejuvenating oasis that my wife and I worry about telling too many people and not being able to get a room when we want to go! (One morning there was actually a group of friends checking out who were reserving their dates for the following year!) We highly recommend Highlawn Inn – a great way to get away and pamper yourself!

If you're looking for a place that has awesome hospitality, food, charm, and a sense of home...then this is the place for you! My husband and I had such a wonderful time at The Highlawn Inn. I just loved the character & charm of this old Victorian Mansion. No matter where you were, you could find flowers throughout...especially on the big wrap-around porch. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay at a B&B in Berkley Springs, WV. |

This is a fantastic place to relax, get a massage in town, and eat very well for a reasonable price. |

My wife and I are repeat guests at the Highlawn Inn - and count ourselves among its biggest fans. Berkeley Springs is a wonderful place to visit and our experiences at the Highlawn Inn only serve to enhance our stays. This time we stayed over the long Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed the Art Studio Tour in addition to the wonderful shopping, spa and dining options we normally partake in. [We did a spa package at Atasia Spa (wonderful!) and had dinners at Tari's and Lot 12 - two of our favorite restaurants.] But back to Highlawn - along with the Inn's great accomodations (we stayed in the Greenview Room - spacious with a great King-sized bed) and the consistently delicious, plentiful gourmet breakfasts, we also reserved the Saturday night Silver Service Dinner, a 5-course taste treat with accompanying wines, which takes place on certain weekends over the year. (Do not miss this if you get the opportunity!). And for those who just want to slow down and rest, there is a great big wrap-around porch to lounge on! Sandy, Tim and the rest of the staff go out of their way to make sure that your stay is relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. We always leave Berkeley Springs feeling refreshed and renewed and our Highlawn Inn experiences are one of the important reasons we keep coming back! |

My husband and I have stayed at Highlawn Inn several times and that is why I rated several items about my stay as "exactly as I expected." I know that Highlawn Inn is a cut above most other B and B's that I've stayed at. It is well above expectations but I know that. I can always count on the owners and staff of Highlawn Inn to provide outstanding service in all areas. I have never been disappointed. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The shampoos and soaps they provide are high quality from name companies such as Caswell-Massey. The food is wonderful! Sandy's breakfast buffet is filled with made from scratch delights such as buttermilk biscuits, cinnamon scones with lemon curd, herbed egg casserole with spinach, just to name a few dishes that you will typically find there. The staff is always friendly and attentive, ready to assist you in any way they can to make sure you have a pleasant stay. I just came back from Highlawn Inn with 3 of my girlfriends and I think I can speak for them when I say that our time in Berkeley Springs was really wonderful for lots of reasons. One of the main reasons though, was Highlawn Inn. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away to a reasonable and relaxing overnight accomodation. |

You will feel totally at home here at this inn. We were here in 1989 for our honeymoon and found that it hasn't lost any of its charm. |

Highlawn is one of the main reasons I go to Berkeley Springs, and I go every chance I get. It is a sanctuary from the stress of everyday life. Sandy and Tim are wonderful - they make your time at Highlawn special and effortless. You don't even have to lift a finger to dial the phone to make a reservation - they take care of everything for you. And last, but definitely not least, the breakfasts are stupendous!!! Highlawn alone is worth making the trip to Berkeley Springs. |

My daughter and I loved every minute of our stay at the Highlawn Inn. The house is delightful and our room was just wonderful. We both felt so at home and comfortable there- I even fell asleep reading on the front porch swing! Both the gourmet food and the elegant, but "homey", atmosphere perfectly complimented the fabulous getaway that we had in Berkely Springs! |

The Highlawn Inn far exceeded our expectations for a bed and breakfast inn. The location was perfect for exploring the town and its many shops and spas. Our room had everything we needed from the two person spa tub and fireplace to comfortable seating areas and a view of the "castle." The victorian decor was soothing and comfortable. Each breakfast at the inn was a sumptious affair, innovative and well-prepared. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for rest and relaxation in Berkeley Springs. |
