This is an amazing home and really like stepping back in time. Lovingly restored but what really sets it apart is the wonderful breakfasts. Really first rate food and presentation and a fantastic way to start the day on a lazy weekend getaway. A great value compared to just a hotel with a great location right by the art museum.

My fiancée and I stayed there for four days and loved every minute of it. Mary was the kindest and most hospitable person I have ever meet. I never stayed in a bed and breakfast before because I didn’t think I would feel comfortable with the idea of sleeping in a house with strangers but I rapidly learned this was an unwarranted concern. There was a great deal of privacy and it was nice to meet and converse with others staying there; additionally, we were afforded all the privacy I wanted. The cold, plain, and impersonal accommodations of a hotel cannot possibly compare to the charm and comfort of this place. The accommodations were outstanding and the food was delicious. I am sure all bed and breakfast places offer their own charm and delectable foods but there is one thing I am sure others can’t offer-Mary, the proprietor. She was so kind, so accommodating, so informative, and so amazing. Allow me to briefly describe two instances to illustrate how she does the simple things others wouldn’t. We came by at three pm for some scones and tea but we wanted to watch the Kentucky Derby downstairs before eating them. We told Mary that we would be back up after the race. Not five minutes later here comes Mary with a tray full of scones and tea for us. She didn’t have to do that but she went the extra mile to bring us our treats. Sunday we were ten minutes late for breakfast and everyone had already left. The patrons were gone and Mary went to watch the Bloomsday race. We thought we missed breakfast so we stayed in the library and looked as some of the books and spoke with one another. As soon as Mary returned and saw us she immediately went into the kitchen and fixed breakfast for us. She sat down and talked with us for awhile. She is a great conversationalist and I admire her ability to remember peoples’ names. She is lively, personable, energetic, and passionate about her work. The art work and restoration of this home is awe inspiring. One can’t help but feel they lived during this era as they stay in this home. I live in Louisville Kentucky and when I showed the pictures to my mom she wanted to go there and stay so she actively pursuing that possibility. Well worth the stay and you would really be missing out if you chose to stay anywhere else. Bryndy Louisville Kentucky
