Walking up to Boreas Inn
From the street, you walk through a courtyard garden, up the stairs and into the magic that is Boreas Inn. Once inside, you're in another world--one you won't wish to leave any time soon. The one acre of gardens on the beach side, along with the private trail to the ocean give guests a huge playground with ocean, dunes, wildlife, wide open space and complete peace and tranquility.

Living Area
A marble fireplace dominates the Inn's two large living rooms, which face the dunes and beach. A baby grand sits by one of the huge picture-view windows. Just outside, guests can sit in the gardens or wander Boreas' lovely, private path, that within minutes, winds you through the dunes to the Pacific Ocean where it intersects a most unique two-mile long, paved Dunes Trail.

Breakfast time at Boreas Inn is pretty extraordinary both in presentation and in the handcrafted nature of the 3-4 course brunches. Fresh, local ingredients from the local area include wild mushrooms, smoked sturgeon, salmon and albacore, berries and fresh flowers everywhere! All served by the fireplace.

Antique Accents mixed with the Contemporary
There are always contrasts in color and furnishings at Boreas leading it to be termed "Key West meets the Northwest" in Karen Brown's Guides. Loads of fresh flowers and creative blending of colors and textures make each nook and cranny interesting and artful.

Special occasions are an every day occurence at Boreas. The breakfast table is a joy to see.

Our professional forager, Veronica Williams, brought us this Chanterelle from her property. It measured about 6 inches across and was almost too beautiful to chop up for an omelette.

The North Head Lighthouse
You are in Lewis and Clark territory at Boreas. Visit dramatic lighthouses, museums, go antique shopping, fly a kite on the beach or just spend private time together in the cedar-enclosed hot tub near the ocean dunes. Boreas is only a short walk to Long Beach’s shops, galleries and restaurants and Susie and Bill are happy to help plan dining, sightseeing, and shopping expeditions. Boreas sits on the site where, on November 19, 1805, Clark and the Corp of Discovery walked!

The Stargazer
This lovely guest room has many windows and a full view of the dunes, grasses and the Pacific Ocean in the background that seems to go on forever. The queen bed is topped with a feather bed and cuddly down bedding and really soft linens. You really can see the constellations while you're in bed through windows everywhere. Not just stars, but during the day time, Bald Eagles, deer and other local creatures. The bathroom has a great shower with an innovative shower head and a cool skylight!

The International Kite Festival in August
Kite flying is a big hobby on Long Beach, known as one of the top kite-flying beaches in the world due to its width and breezes--not too strong. So summertime is a great time to learn to fly a kite--or if you're good at it, it's the best kite flying you've experienced!

The Dunes
The Dunes Suite is a slice of bright and light heaven with a glorious king bed with feather bed below you and down comforter on top. Beautiful soft linens, skylights and many windows make even a stormy day bright. French doors open to a lovely sheltered deck for lounging. An 8-jet whirlpool bathtub, dumping shower head and Gilchrest&Soames bath amenities and lush Turkish towels add to the feeling of "oh I don't want to ever leave!" The three-course signature breakfast by candlelight (even in the summer!) will start your morning of adventure at Boreas and the spectacular Long Beach Peninsula.

The Dunes Suite
The luxurious Dunes Suite, as well as Boreas Inn, is only an expanse of sand and grasses from the ocean on a private trail. Furnished beautifully with the contemporary, art and antiques, Boreas Bed and Breakfast is everything you have dreamed about having in a home on the beach.

The Stargazer
Boreas Inn has been skillfully designed so that each of its five guest rooms has its own bathrooms. The use of color, decor and ambience in each guest room is vastly different making it impossible to choose a favorite. The Stargazer, true to its name, offers views of the oceans, dunes and the stars through it's plentiful windows. The soft sound of the surf will lull your cares away and you will sleep better than you have in years on our great beds.

The Pacifica
Refreshing Pacific Ocean blues and creamy white color schemes pairs with gorgeous bedding to create a feeling of peace and comfort. Posh linens, spectacular wide-open westward view with the ocean, dunes and sunsets at your beck help make this guest room both cozy and romantic. Tall vaulted ceiling with exotic fan to keep you cool. Every amenity, fresh flowers, the signature Boreas 3-course breakfast, very private spa by the dunes.

The Garden Suite
The Garden Suite is our "silk" room with silk duvet cover and bedskirt. French doors open to a private deck in one of the side gardens and guests can lazily take in the ocean view from their comfy chairs on the deck while sipping a glass of wine. There is tub/shower in the bath, and an extra day bed for lounging, or an extra guest. The gorgeous queen bed in the alcove has down and feathers below and down comforter atop so you're nested in grand comfort in lush linens. A few steps off the deck and you're in the hot tub!

The HIdeaway
Perfectly named for the little upstairs corridor that leads to this totally private, surprisingly roomy guest suite with an enormous fluffy king-size bed with featherbed and down comforter on top and of course, lovely linens. This is the innkeepers' favorite room. The good-sized shower is under a skylight with a large dumping showerhead and glass block accents add light to each part of the suite. Antique armoire, beautiful hand-made tile accents in the bath and playful colors of lime, lavendar and periwinkle make this room a favorite of guests too. Added bonus are the breakfast cooking aroma's that somehow infiltrate the room in the morning. You will feel perfectly hidden away in the Hideaway. Oh yes--there's a little European sized balcony off the sliding doors in the alcove that give you a glimpse of the ocean when the leaves are off the trees!
