The owner, Virginia is the nicest lady, her breakfasts were superb, her snacks too. She told us about the area, helped us every way she could. This is a delightful, quiet placer to stay, the views are amgnificent, the river, the valleys, and the cobbler house is perfectly laid out, tons of space. This is one of the best B&B's we've EVER stayed at, Virginia makes you want to stay for a month, I wish we could have.

The nicest B&B with the best overall accomadations, views, food and hospitality. The innkeeper is friendly and highly knowledgeable about the area. Stay here and enjoy yourself. The views of the river and hills are superb.

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful, peaceful. Every detail of the cottage was lovely. This place draws you in and makes you wish you could live there. The food was out of this world, and the innkeeper is just wonderful. Don't miss this!

The Jacob Swartz House is one of the best, if not the very best, B & B that I have visited. The hostess has thought of every little detail that would make a guest comfortable. The B & B had MORE comforts than home ! The hostess was also very warm and accommodating. I had a wonderful time at Jacob Swartz and was disappointed that my stay was so short. I will definitely visit again.

The Jacob Swartz House is set on a beautiful bluff overlooking the North Fork of the Shenandoah River near New Market, a quiet vista to enjoy every morning when you awaken to the songs of the birds and see the squirrels dancing in the surroounding trees. Soon, Virginia brings you the most delicious, scrumptous breakfast you can ever imagine...all served on beautiful china. We could not begin to really tell anyone how tasty our breakfasts were. Try them yourself!! The cobblers cottage was our lodging, but you would never know that over a 100 years ago this was a workiing operation to make boots and shoes. The ambiance is magnificent, with bueatiful furnishings in each room, including the screened porch off the lower bedroom. After touring the community nearby each day, Virginia would have a huge dessert awaiting us in the "fridge" to enjoy. Thanks for being so special. Sibyl and Doug Atlanta, Georgia

So many thoughtful touches and amenities - don't worry if you've forgotten something because she's remembered it!...Breakfast with Virginia is like visiting with your favorite aunt...I felt so comfortable and at home I didn't ever want to leave the the guest house though!

The Jacob Swartz house is unlike your typical B&B; guests stay in a two bedroom cottage, with full kitchen, two screened-in porches, and sights and sounds of the Shenanodoah River. The cottage was beautifally decorated with antique furniture. Virginia's attention to detail was particularly impressive. I would highly recommend this B&B.

You should go see it for yourself! It is a wonderful relaxing getaway place; quiet and close to nature, yet a short drive from many commercial areas. Virginia's hospitality is legendary (read for yourself in the guest book!). Every need is met with a smile and there are always little surprises.

Innkeeper Virginia makes everything perfect. The cottage is better than home and in a beautiful location. We definitely be back!!!

It was absolutely perfect. The cottage is a house in itself where I could actually live. It was stocked with sodas, snacks, movies, CDs, board games, candles, new toiletries, etc. Serene setting looking over the Shenandoah River. Perfect for a family with kids, but even better for a couple. Fireplace, candlelight, classic and more recent movies, CD player with CDs and tapes. Great hospitality, great breakfast. I'd definitely return.

It is been one of the rare instances where the setting and hospitality has exceeded my expectations. The Hostess of the Inn, Virginia is one of the nicest, and most attentive we have ever experienced. She made a special Birthday weekend an unforgetable one. It is surely the most private, and seculeded Inn's with a view of the mountains, and setting on a Bluff over the Shenandoah River. I'll give the Jacob Swartz House my highest recomendation in every respect !

Nothing but the best for the guests. The two bedroom cottage is immaculate and the many decorative and convenience oriented touches makes it seem like the cottage itself is welcoming its visitors with open arms. The "Innkeeper", Virginia, is gracious, helpful, and a *great* cook. Her breakfasts are culinary treats. The Jacob Swartz House is top notch. Don't pass up a chance to visit!

This bed and breakfast is so wonderful! We are blessed to have found a place so great to spend our honeymoon and anniversary trips! Virginia (the innkeeper) takes southern comfort to the top. Guests want for nothing at Jacob Swartz House. It is a quiet, country, natural stay that allows for sightseeing as well as relaxation. We will be regulars!

Our hostess, Virginia Harris, went out of her way to make us feel at home and to attend to all our needs. When we arrived there was a pitcher of lemonade in the fridge and a plate of freshly baked cookies on the kitchen counter. The fridge had already been stocked with sodas, milk for coffee, snacks, and just about any condiment you could think of. Coffee, tea, and cocoa were provided as well. The breakfasts were plentiful and good, served whenever we wanted. The setting is beautiful, right on the river, and far off the beaten path, yet only a few minutes from the main highways. We plan to go back again soon. In fact, we were ready to move in!

The cottage was perfect, supplied with all amenities including stocked kitchen. Great places to sit and read or watch the bubbling rapids below. Virginia's hospitality, food and gardening were top notch. Excellent location to tour the VA countryside.
