Featured in Southern Living Magazine as one of five cozy Mid-Atlantic inns, The Channel Bass Inn Bed & Breakfast on Chincoteague Island, VA was built as a private home in 1892 and since the 1920s has been in continuous use as a hotel, country inn, or bed and breakfast. This grand old 6,800 sq. ft. home amid gorgeous perennial gardens, offers the Island visitor peaceful, beautifully furnished accommodations. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and have comfortable sitting areas for reading and relaxing, and some have a distant view of the Chincoteague Bay. A noteworthy feature of the Channel Bass Inn is that no two guestrooms share a common wall. That, together with the exceptional soundproofing, ensures peace and privacy and a good night’s rest for all our guests.
When the weather is cool, a pellet stove burns brightly in the main fireplace – a cozy place to enjoy a glass of wine with other guests. There’s a TV in the sitting room, if you want to keep up with the outside world. Otherwise, choose a book from our ample selection – if you don’t get to finish it, there’s a good chance we’ll let you take it home with you. Or perhaps you’d like to play on the piano in the dining room. Weather permitting, breakfast and afternoon tea are served on a side porch overlooking the Japanese gardens and the pond.
The trickle of the fountain provides a soothing background sound – the occasional splash is the ducks jumping in for their refreshing morning dip! Our resident backyard cats know to keep their distance! For the early risers, our gardens are a wonderfully restful place to sit and enjoy a first cup of coffee and observe the interplay of our local wildlife. All guests of the Channel Bass Inn are welcome to enjoy complimentary bicycles, beach towels and chairs, beach umbrellas, coolers and even backpacks at this family-friendly inn so everyone can start an adventure. |

Full Gourmet Breakfast |

Our breakfast (which changes daily) may start with a delicious fresh fruit salad, with a yogurt, sour cream and honey sauce, or perhaps a warm fruit compote - delicious with granola. A main course could be spicy Mexican poached eggs in a flour tortilla shell - the flavor is divine! Sauteed red potatoes and green peppers accompany this dish. A favorite with our guests! We always serve two breads with breakfast -- perhaps zucchini. or banana bread, or a wonderful bran bread (contains no eggs or fat), or perhaps a nut bread. Our guests love our coffee and our large assortment of teas - our breakfast teas include Yorkshire tea and Assam, and a wonderful Earl Grey (all teas are imported from England).
