Barrows House bed and breakfast is an historic inn of eight buildings, a pool and tennis court, nestled on twelve park-like acres in Dorset, Vermont. Our white clapboard buildings, antique perennial garden and stately trees all evoke a history which can be traced to the founding days of Dorset itself in the mid 1700s.

The feeling is that of a time gone by, yet with modern conveniences that make a visit to our inn completely comfortable. There is a story to every Barrows House room or cottage: each furnished in its own restful style with antiques, old family pieces and modern bedding! Each of our houses has its own sitting room, porch or terrace; several have fireplaces, all have air conditioning. The glowing hearth in our main inn living room and cozy the library-look of our fully licensed Tavern provide all the opportunity one could desire for companionship or privacy.

Nearby you will find an array of shopping, golf and in the winter, skiing. Horseback riding and trout fishing on the famed Battenkill and Mettowee Rivers are found close by, and hiking trails abound throughout the area. Whatever your pleasure...the pursuit of antiques, enjoying a production at the Dorset Playhouse, an exhibit at the Southern Vermont Art Center, auctions, flea markets, the breathtaking colors of Vermont's fall foliage...you will always find a warm reception at Barrows House.

Policies
Check In Policy:
Check-in time is after 2:00 pm. If a guest arrives after the date specified the deposit will be forfeited.
Check Out Policy:
Check-out time is before 11:00 am. If a guest checks out prior to the departure date specified the deposit will be forfeited.
Cancellation Policy:
If a reservation is cancelled prior to seven days of arrival the deposit will be refunded less a 10% reservation handling fee. With less notice the deposit may be credited to another visit.

Well behaved children are happily accepted.

Parents are responsible for their children. We maintain an active baby sitter lists to assist parents.
Deposit Policy:
Reservations must be secured by a deposit equal to one days rate or 50% of the total amount for visits longer than two nights.
Pets Welcome
Dogs, only, are allowed in two accommodations, Carriage House and Field House. Dogs are not allowed in any other accommodations.
