The Black Bear Inn exceeded all my expectations and was a wonderful "surprise". The inn is in a lovely rural location not far from Burlington. I could only imagine how lovely it would be in winter too. The room was cozy, clean and had a lovely little private deck to sit out on and view the beautiful greenery. Had all the amenities too. The innkeepers, Brian and Jill were gracious and most helpful with my touring questions. They have itineraries readily available for driving tours and tips on where to sightsee and eat or shop. In addition to the scrumptious breakfast, choice of green chilli omelet (yum!) or buttermilk blueberry pancakes (another yum!) with bacon, sausage and potatoes, toasts and marmalades, the highlight of our stay was the fabulous dinner we had. I reserved dinner with my booking for a savings. What I had was 4 star culinary quality- with intricate use of fresh herbs and artistically prepared. I had scallops and husband steak - the herbed bread was warm, and the potatoes were lovely red, blue and yellow. (Keep your chef hidden, Brian, so no one "steals" him away!) They also have lovely wines and a stocked bar. It was a most pleasant sensory experience in every aspic. Thank you Brian and Jill!
