My husband and I stayed at The Captain's Castle in "Sarah's Room." We truly enjoyed everything about the trip. Bill and Angie (new owners) are wonderful and super friendly. Bill even stayed up chatting with us for an hour or so about life and the history of Jefferson. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I absolutely loved the house's decor. The home was recently renovated to enhance and preserve the historic feel of the house. I would recommend this home for anyone looking for a comfortable and unique place to stay.

From the moment we stepped into this beautiful bed & breakfast, we felt like we were visiting family! The new owners, Bill & Angie, paid attention to every detail, including spa towels & pillows, flowers & chocolates in our spacious room, plenty of outdoor seating and suttle lighting to enjoy the wonderful beauty outside, and breakfast to die for! The Captain's Castle is close to great dining, shopping and events happening! They are also close to a wonderful winery - Enoch's Stomp Winery. We enjoyed our "visit" so much and encourage everyone to stay with Bill and Angie. They are so personable and the "Castle" is beautiful! We can't wait to book our next visit!

Very disappointing experience. We stayed for two nights, but one was enough. It states that you receive a "full" breakfast, but when we left that morning we had to go eat before shopping because of the miniscule portions at the inn. The owners are very friendly, but are clearly in over their heads with this Inn project. Very unsanitary, especially the kitchen! Dirty dishes sat for a day in the sink with roaches everywhere in the filthy kitchen. This observation was easy to make because patrons are forced to enter the Inn through the kitchen. For this reason, we advised the innkeeper that we would be eating our breakfast somewhere else. I had to sleep in a recliner in the living room because the bed was so hard. Not recommended !
Response
We apoligize for your disappointing experience. It is our goal as innkeepers to provide our guest with a pleasurable stay with us. One of the things we offer our guest is a "full breakfast" everyday. A full breakfast might consist of a bowl of fresh fruit, 3 eggs,2 pieces of meat and bisquits which was served on this day as any other. Being a small business we are unable to serve an all you can eat buffet.
For 21 years guest have entered the Captain's Castle through the kitchen as a convenience due to the location of off street parking (something most historic homes don't have). We feel making guest walk to the other side of the property just to enter the front door would be a TOTAL inconvenience.
As for the dirty dishes, they are always carried to the kitchen after breakfast and promptly cleaned as soon as our guests have all their needs met and questions answered about their days activities. However, we will have to dispute the roach issue. We do regular pest maintenience just as any home or business would do.
It is our desire for all guests to have a wonderful experience with us but we do understand it is impossible to please everyone. Again, we apoligize for your disappointing stay.
