We weren't at all sure what to expect from Amarillo but Carol and Nabil made up for that. First Carol fed the fish in the garden, then we had some very good wine with Nabil during which he arranged a complementary limo to The Big Texan Steakhouse. We were well and truly welcomed into their home which was very pretty. Carol made breakfast burritos the next morning which were wonderful. If ever we find ourselves in Amarillo again we'll be back!

We arrived in Amarillo much later than we expected (after 9), and Carol was ready to greet us warmly. Amarillo is not known for its late night scene, so she called a local restaurant to make sure they would stay open to "feed my guests". When we got back from dinner, it was at least 10:30, but Carol was still there to greet us, and offer a glass of wine before bed.
Parkview House is in an older neighborhood just west of downtown Amarillo. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We stayed in the Victorian Room, which was charming and large. We had a private bathroom next to our room.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Carol welcomed us into the kitchen while she finished making a wonderful frittata, accompanied by fresh watermelon garnished with fresh mint leaves from her garden. She also put mint leaves in the orange juice.
After breakfast, Carol showed us her garden, which our fellow guests said compared favorably with those they had visited in Europe. The garden is large enough to fit another house in, and the centerpiece is the koi pond. It has been used to host weddings, botanical society meetings, and other events. Carol spent almost an hour with her guests in the garden after breakfast, showing us her plants and flowers and explaining the history of the property. When you visit, be sure to ask Carol to show you her performing koi...
From now on, we will be staying here every time we pass through Amarillo.

Carol & her husband Nabil were most gracious hosts with the food and accommodations beyond excellent! We felt like a king and queen in their lush gardens and yard with their koi fish pond. We will return soon and recommend this B&B to any and everyone within a 1000 mile radius of Amarillo, Tx.!!!

My girlfriend needed to see an Aunt and Uncle in Amarillo, so we decided to make a weekend of the trip. Neither of us had ever stayed in a B&B before and did not know what to expect. We made the reservation with Carol but had gotten a late start from Dallas. We called to say that we may arrive very late at night. Carol said not to worry, to drive carefully and that she would be waiting when we arrived. We arrived at 10:30pm. Carol greeted us, gave us a brief tour of the wonderful Victorian home, and backyard gardens, and gave us a glass of wine to settle us in for the evening.
The next morning we had a hot breakfast, coffee, and we were off. Each evening there was a glass of wine and good conversation to settle us down. In the mornings, a great breakfast got us started. It was a lot of fun talking to the other guests and learning a little about their lives. We actually started a bit late each morning because we enjoyed this so much. It was as if we had found a little home away from home. Carol and her husband made our stay so stress free, that we stayed an extra night to relax and get a comfortable start in the morning for your trip home. For those that may want a little more privacy, there is a cottage house in the backyard. The backyard gardens and Jacuzzi provide a place to wonder and enjoy the cooler evening air. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My friend and I were just stopping through on our Route 66 trip to LA, and Carol was wonderful. She made us a wonderful breakfast in the morning (complete with an impressive variety of yummy looking teas!), and after breakfast she gave us a tour of her garden, which included lessons/ tastes/ smells of all of the awesome herbs she grows, plus a stop at the koi pond where she let us feed her fish (and yes, they all have names. :) ). Would definitely recommend the Parkview House to anyone!

Carol offered me a special price.......based on not having wine or breakfast......but Nabil offered wine anyway (I passed) and Carol made me a special low fat breakfast! The B&B was great....I walked at the park next door.....met some interesting folks......and had a great night's sleep.

As a woman traveling alone on business, it was especially wonderful to "come home" every night to a beautifully decorated, welcoming place. I rented the cottage - it was far more cheerful and quiet than any chain hotel could possibly be. Every morning, Carol cooked me real stovetop oatmeal with all the trimmings. I was welcomed by Carol and Nabil like family. I plan to stay here every time I come to Amarillo!

Highly recommend them. We plan on returning in the future. Hospitality was greatly appreciated, since we were stuck in an ice storm. They truly went above and beyond our expectations and made us feel comfortable in a time of stress.
