La Casita del Sol is one of Amarillo's historic homes, built in the Spanish eclectic style as interpreted by architect Guy A. Carlander in 1926. While maintaining the architectural integrity of the home, the owner accomplished an extensive reconstruction and modern renovation in 1999. La Casita del Sol is located in the Plemons-Eckle Historic district, close to downtown Amarillo.

Today, the inn offers La 4 guest rooms, each with private bath, TV and VCR. Each bedroom has its own theme, and either opens on to or looks upon the expansive private, walled garden that is in the Spanish tradition.

Spacious and comfortable living areas, a separate foyer, a colorful dining room: for a private conversation, an important meeting or a delicious meal, La Casita del Sol represents an artful and relaxing haven for the vacationer, a refreshing restorative for the business traveler, and a quick getaway for weekends.

One highlight of your La Casita experience is an unforgettable breakfast. Bonnie Rodriguez, your Innkeeper, will welcome you in the morning with a full traditional breakfast: fresh fruit, home baked muffins and rolls, a hot entree (eggs La Casita or other), homemade jams, wild plum butter. Many of the ingredients are grown in La Casita's organic garden.

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, we air-dry the sheets outside. Hardwood floors and down comforters are gentle on allergies, and we make every effort to accommodate your special needs.

This is THE place to stay in Amarillo! It's in a gorgeous historic neighborhood (be sure to drive around & check it out - there is an incredible, huge mansion 1 block away). Bonnie the innkeeper is so nice & mellow - you can feel your blood pressure dropping in her presence! We got to see all the rooms of the inn as we were the only ones there that night. All are beautiful, as are the common rooms. We were fortunate to have the biggest room, the La Encantada Suite. SUPER cozy & charming. It has a great sitting room with a TV & a door going out to the deck & beautiful backyard. The bedroom also has French doors going out to the deck, which would normally be shared with the Ralph Dundee room if anyone was staying there - but we had it to ourselves. They'd just had a nice summer rain that day, so later that night I sat out on the deck reading in the clean cool of the evening. The bathroom is impeccably elegant. The breakfast was yummy & included her homemade jam, which we bought an extra jar of as a gift for my parents. Highly recommended.
