Texas Information
Texas, also known as The Lone Star State, is like no other state in the US. With a motto of "friendship," you're sure to feel welcomed and relaxed while visiting Texas. Some Lone Star destinations that you should be sure to not miss on your next visit include Amarillo, Austin, Big Sandy, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Davis, Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, Galveston, Houston, San Antonio, Waco and much more. All of these places have something unique to offer, and some of the most popular Texan activities include shopping, camping, golfing, birding, BBQing, and more. From jazz and blues festivals to the annual Ladies Kingfish Tournament, Texas has something for everyone.
And you really can't be in Texas for more than a few hours without either smelling, tasting, or hearing about its one-of-a-kind barbecue. BBQ originated in Texas, and proud Texans won't let you forget that. Barbecuing was invented in Texas, back in the rooms of meat markets in Central Texas at the turn of the century, and Texas Monthly magazine tells that the best BBQ is still found in Central Texas.
Another unique wonder of Texas is its birding diversity. With over 625 species of birds recorded, Texas is known as America's birding capital. Big Bend National Park is proud to boast its 450 species of birds – more than any other national park.
With over 600 miles of breathtaking coastline and beaches, how many seashells can one possibly pick up? Galveston Island is an hour drive from Houston and is a favorite among all. With organized activities like concerts, volleyball tournaments and more, everyone is always enjoying themselves. One of the biggest sandcastle-building competitions in the world is held on Galveston Island! |
