Weddings - Large and Small.
Our new gazebo is pictured along with a medium-size wedding performed in the Wedding Garden surrounded by flowering plants. Our facility is ideal for weddings from "just you two" to 50 "seated" or more, if standing or using a tent.

Experience Tennessee's first sunrise-starting a perfect day
Mountain City and Prospect Hill are located in the far NE corner of the state, just south of SW Virginia and just north of Blowing Rock and Boone, NC. The Appalachian Mountains rise to over 5,000 feet in this area. The inn is a 2500 ft.elevation making for good weather and lots of scenery nearby. (Some rooms with a 3-state view.) The scenery is glorious just about every day of the year.

Our wedding garden--for ceremonies and for relaxing
Landscape architect William T. Smith, ASLA (Atlanta) aided in the design of this oasis surrounded by perennials and flowering shrubs. Mountain view back it. We recently added a bubbling fountain and a bronze gazebo. A perfect place to relax or celebrate.

Unique Shingle Style Victorian mansion in the Appalachian Mountains
The house--named Prospect Hill by its first owner--was designed by a Chattanooga architect and built in 1889. It remains significantly unchanged with hand cut wood trim, handmade brick and an unusual metal shingle roof (now permanently finished in patina green--originally barn red and once bright silver!) Located on a knoll on three acres just west of the quaint Mountain City downtown... a place soon to burst with 1950s flavor (the buildings are already there just waiting to bring back The Retro Hometown feeling). 23 walnut trees dot the property. Views of three ridges and states abound.

Romance Room (#1) - Your Own Porch Swing, Private
Large and lovely: snuggle in your king size bed under 11-foot ceilings lighted by rare red glass windows. The whirlpool tub is perfect for two. Gas log stove in bath PLUS gas log fireplace in room, wing chairs, private entrance with porch swing, mountain views, digital TV/premium channels, free wifi. First floor location (limited handicap access). Perfect for lovers of all ages. Suitable for those who want to avoid the stairs. $159-$179

Rose Romance Room #2--Unique, romantic
This unique room is the most exciting and unique--with a three state view, its own private staircase to an incredible luxury bath with huge whirlpool tub and large separate shower with custom made mosaic mural, heart pine floors, vaulted ceilings... wow. Queen bed,gas log fireplace, (2nd sink in the room), robes, free wifi, HD (new) TV plus CD/ipod /clock radio, DVD player and a huge amount of privacy. Right next door to the upstairs front porch. Nothing like it at home! Brand new linens and fresh paint. Enjoyed for honeymoons, anniversaries and "special" couples moments. Not suitable for people with knee problems or problems with stairs (to private bath). $159-$179

In the Garden (#3) - large, beautiful
Less is more: Our largest room and most affordable..... just plain lovely, large room with queen bed, cozy private bath with large modern shower, (no tub), love seat, TV, free wifi. A twin can be added (fee for adults/free for 1 child). Fireplace features a Dimplex (hypoallergenic) electric fire. Newly decorated bath. Just steps to where smoking is permitted. The inn is no smoking indoors. Price: $99-$115

The Hideaway (#4) - Find Yourselves Alone...
Cozy, private and very romantic. Queen bed, large fireplace with gas logs, modern bed with the most comfortable mattress, large whirlpool tub for two with rain shower, candle surround in the bath. Located upstairs back for great privacy. This room entirely focuses on the two of you. TV, cable, robes, candles provided. This room is farthest from the smoking areas. $139-$159

Wagner Bedroom Room #5--Private Balcony Included
Thought to be the master bedroom, this large, private room has its own balcony with three-state view, large bath with modern shower plus an antique claw tub, first owner's initials carved in the window glass and a wonderful little gas log stove. TV, free wifi, robes, candles, bubble bath and snacks all included.You may smoke on the balcony of this room; inn is non-smoking per state law. $109-$129

A Cottage In The Woods--Kids, Dogs Welcome
Listen to the birds. Kick back on the deck. Let the kids romp on the small lawn or explore the forest. Watch for deer (there are lots around!) 3 BR/2BA house built in 1985 or so. Perfect for a family vacation.... bike the Virginia Creeper Trail; hike the Appalachian Trail, boat on Watauga Lake, day at Tweetsie RR or Grandfather Mountain.

A Cottage In The Woods-Kids, Dogs Welcome
A rare find: 3 BR/2BA, 1300 sq.ft. house beautifully decorated and appointed: available for families and welcoming to dogs/pets. First floor bedroom pictured here. Located on 30 wooded acres adjoining Cherokee National Forest and Iron Mountain Trail. Natural spring on site. Fully equipped and furnished (linens and kitchen gear included). Even a BBQ. Breakfast at the inn
We strive for a tasty breakfast which is a tad decadent, always interesting, often sweet and with our own twist. We don't call ourselves gourmet chefs but we are sure you will enjoy the start (fresh fruit) and the finish (good conversation) as well as the variety of egg, pancake, French toast and crepes recipes offered.

Sunrises and Sunsets
We are blessed to be where everyday offers Tennessee's First Sunrise. Some days we also have a wonderful sunset, such as the one pictured. The house, by the way, is a shingle style Victorian home built in 1889 and designed by a Chattanooga,TN architect. Bay window of the living room is shown.

Our mountain meadow--private hiking area
We own an additional 43 acres 8 miles from the inn where you are welcome to take a very private hike through meadows and woods. It also includes the creek where Tom Dooley was arrested...

Fly fishing is fantastic in this area.
If you don't fish, simply enjoy the fresh water and scenery. Nearby is the Virginia Creeper Trail which is great for biking and hiking.

Pavillion Party and Events Room
This large room will seat 50+ with its walnut trim (shown), tall ceilings (14' or more) and garden with mountain views. Built especially for special occasions like yours with public restrooms and a kitchen suitable for catered meals. Adjoins the Wedding Garden, Patio and Gallery entry room.

Rural beauty abounds in Johnson County in the far
This is Rambo Road with a long history associated with the inn's house. The Iron Mountains in the distance boast two hiking trails, one reachable from the inn's cottage property. (One is the Appalachian Trail.) Inn is a short drive to the Virginia Creeper Trial (bike or hike), Watauga Lake and other great outdoor places.
