With exquisite style and grace, Governor's House Inn (circa 1760) preserves the legacy of Historic Charleston, SC's premier inn. The former Governor's mansion was once the residence of Edward Rutledge, South Carolina patriot, statesman and the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. Over 200 years later, this exquisite mansion retains its grandeur and dignity, just one reason why Governor's House was declared "one of the most romantic inns in America" in 2001.
From our doorsteps on the South side of legendary Broad Street (at the corner of Orange Street), guests can stroll to the bustling Old Market four blocks to our North, or to the harbor and Battery four blocks to our South.
You're not far from the City's famous galleries, fine dining, antique shops and the annual Spoleto Arts Festival venues.
The Inn is also located in the center of activity during the Spring Festival of Houses & Gardens and the Fall Candlelight Tours of Homes and Gardens.
Governor's House Inn is ideally situated in the Historic District's premier residential section, a peaceful sanctuary within just a short walk of virtually every destination in downtown Charleston. Enjoy the tradition of excellence established over three generations ago, where romantic accommodations, exceptional service and gracious Charleston hospitality are part of our heritage. |
