Welcome to 1 Murray House Bed & Breakfast, a charming Bed & Breakfast, located in Newport, Rhode Island! Newport is the city by the sea, where relaxing beaches await you, gourmet restaurants beckon you, and summer events vie for your attention. The end of the Cliff Walk and Bailey's beach are a 5 minute walk away, and only a short drive to Fort Adams, the home of the Newport Jazz & Folk Festivals.
Murray House has lovely guest rooms, each done in a different theme. The queen size beds have memory foam padding for extra comfort and each room comes with a private bath. Best of all, you have private outside entrances to each room. You can have your personally served homemade breakfast either in your room or on your private patio area. For your convenience, your room has a TV, VCR, A/C, fans and WIFI computer access. Well trained pets and children over 8 years are welcome.

We stayed at 1 Murray House B&B in mid-May for a short get-away weekend. What a nice find -- a B&B located very close to the Newport Mansions and the Cliff Walk area. Noreen was a pleasure to work with in making our reservations, helping us to know about great places to eat in Newport, and doing the extra effort for our special requests like extra coffee and doing some research for us when we needed to figure out an impromptu wedding gift for some friends. We stayed in the Safari room and it was comfortable. Bathroom was a nice size. It was wonderful having a mini-kitchen for snacks, beverages, and such. We would definitely stay here if we visit Newport again.

If you are looking for comfort, nestled in the "backyard" of Newports' Mansion District then this is the place to be. Small rooms each with a kitchenette and private entrance and your very own patio area to sit, sip and dream in the ocean air. Also a handy place to park your towel as you splash in the sparkling inground pool.
Breakfast is full and artistically presented at your door each morning. Fresh herbs and flowers adorn the tray. And if traveling with your furry friend (four legged types are warmly welcomed too!) a surprise is included for them as well.
Rates are reasonable, and in off season reduced as a BYOB (Bring your Own Breakfast) special.
Murray House does not have the glitz and aires of the "fancy" establishments. It is a place where you open the door to your room, kick off your shoes, smile at the whimsical decor, sit with a bounce on the comfy bed and feel that sense of "Ahhhhhhh".
