The Shinning Waters Country Inn is historic Inn located in the heart of Cavendish overlooking the ocean and the Prince Edward Island National Park. Close to all Cavendish attractions and the closest accommodation to Cavendish Main Beach. The Inn was the former home of Rachel MacNeill (Rachel Lynde from the novel Anne of Green Gables) and was constructed in the 1800's. In 1942 it was dragged by horse and sleigh to its current location and opened as one of the very first tourist accommodations in Cavendish.
In 2005 the Inn received a major make over with the addition of 6 luxury suites, including a separate gatehouse. The inn is also now part of the Cavendish area's only full service resort, the Resort at Cavendish Corner. This gives Inn guests access to all the amenities of the resort's 9 acre site including two outdoor pools and a superior licensed on site restaurant - Rachael's Ristorante, a gift store and and art gallery.
The Inn has great chararcter with its large verandah and deck, great room with fireplace and intimate rooms and suites. Our regular rooms are rated at three stars and our luxury suites are rated at four stars. The luxury suites have whirpool tubs, fireplaces, sleigh beds and very high end furnishings.
The Cavendish area is the prime tourist destination on Prince Edward Island and offers spectacular landscapes and seascapes, as described by author L.M. Montgomery, many historic, cultural and family attractions. Cavendish is also in the geographic centre of the province and is the perfect location from which to tour the entire Island. |

Children:

We tend to discourage children in our Inn and try to keep an adult only environment. Our resort contains many other accommodation options (such as cottages) which are much better suited to childrens' needs. Because of our connection with Anne of Green Gables, however, we have quite a number of parents and grandparents who wish to bring children to the property because of its close ties to the novel. We do limit occupancy to two people per room, whether adults or children. |
