Welcome to Zororo (Zulu for ‘rest’), a tranquil and relaxing haven set in the green heart of Central Portugal’s Beira region, frequently described as the most striking rural area of the country. Located at the edge of a traditional village in the Serra Lousa hills we offer luxury accommodation exclusively to adults who enjoy time away from the stresses of everyday life (and children!).
Our 5 double bedrooms are all en-suite, generously proportioned, air-conditioned and centrally heated, each having a balcony with views across the valley or to the forest. There is a large lounge and dining room, with contemporary furniture over Italian marble flooring, linked by a spectacular handmade double spiral staircase of wrought iron. Guests have use of a huge games room with a pool table, futebol table, LCD TV (including UK channels), DVDs, plus board games, books, etc. Your stay includes breakfast and frequently the option of a mouth-watering three course evening meal, using seasonal local ingredients and regional Portuguese dishes, with, wine, liquors and coffee. Outside in the garden is our 11-metre swimming pool with mosaic sun bathing area, a hard surface tennis court and our own 300 plant vineyard.
The hills and valleys surrounding us are heavily wooded and dotted with stone built hamlets….the pace of life here hasn’t changed much for a long time. Walks through unspoilt pine, chestnut, and eucalyptus forests abound, whilst the enchanting village of Gois, with its river beach and cobbled streets, is just 4 minutes away. Within a 40-minute drive are the more urbane delights of the University City of Coimbra, with modern and traditional shopping, cathedrals and river excursions. The sandy and dune-backed beaches of the Silver Coast are around a 90 minutes drive west, the spectacular Serra do Estrela National Park the same distance east. |
