Come and be a guest in our romantic Artist's Inn and Gallery bed and breakfast in Terre Hill, a small town nestled among Amish and Mennonite farms in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Hear the clip-clop of horse-drawn buggies from our Amish neighbors as they pass the inn, listen to chimes playing from a nearby church, browse through innkeeper Bruce Garrabrandt's colored pencil artwork in the gallery, or relax on our Victorian porches with refreshments.
Stroll through the extensive gardens, listen to the clip-clop of Amish buggies, as they pass by the inn, relax on the Victorian porches, explore the art gallery, raid the cookie jar, or help work on the puzzle in the puzzle room. The inn dates from 1853 and has a colorful past, with stories that we will happily share. |

Our visit was fun and relaxing from the moment we arrived. We especially enjoyed spending time on the porch with the amazing scenery and the peacefulness of the town. Our suite was clean, cozy and comfortable. It was nice to enjoy our own private porch upstairs at dawn. The breakfasts were first class and the fresh, local strawberries were an exceptional treat. We love the happy and unique artwork found throughout the Inn. We "shopped til we dropped" at local nurseries and found the owners/growers to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We look forward to returning, perhaps for the mystery dinner but certainly for the Paranormal Weekend.

Our long term interest in the Amish and Mennonite Christian tradition brought us from Australia to Lancaster County for a week. We needed an Inn! Our expectations were exceeded many times over. The hospitality of Jan and Bruce was outstanding. Innkeeper Jan was invariably happy, accommodating, generous and willing to help our interests and itinerary - perhaps 'unfazed' is the word I am looking for. Jan went to a great deal of trouble to helping us track down people to helping us pat mules! - now that is something else! Jan's home cooked 'every day a new delight' breakfast menu is just fantastic. Jan even keeps a record of our menus so that next time we will not eat the same menu, unless requested. The delicious breakfasts also meant dollars in the bank as lunch was never needed. Location is marvellous as it is 5 minutes off the busy tourist thoroughfares and so gives rest and yet all is near when required. Administration, service and web were all accurate, clear and helpful. We have stayed in many fine B&Bs in many countries and The Artists Inn is our number 1 - enjoy it! Thank you to Jan and her gifted husband - artist with picture and pen, imbued with a wry spirit of humor and self-reflection that brings forth our laughter and knowing nod to wisdom expressed. Thank you, Jan and Bruce. God bless you and all your guests.

Our hosts, Jan and Bruce, were superb and the Carriage House was perfect for our family. What a lucky find! It was a home away from home. Plenty of room, very clean and so scenic with the surrounding farmlands. We had a wonderful time in this quiet, friendly town where Amish and Mennonite families are your neighbors. Can't beat seeing and hearing the horse and buggies pass by while relaxing on the deck. All the sites are a drive away through the breathtaking landscapes. Go out for the day and come back to relaxation and hospitality. We highly recommend the Artist's Inn!!

We recently stayed at the Artist’s Inn and Gallery’s Old Stone Cottage for our honeymoon. It was absolutely wonderful! The cottage is done with so much attention to detail that it stands out in every single room. The décor is wonderful without being overdone. The cottage is luxurious with a wonderful bed and even a whirlpool in the master bedroom. The shower is right out of the 21st century. Bruce and Jan were exceptionally nice and helpful too! It was a perfect experience and a wonderful stay. Nothing could have been better after the stress and turmoil of pulling off a wedding. We hope to go back many times! The combination of this fantastic cottage and the peace of Lancaster is a balm to the soul. Absolutely recommended without reserve !

My husband, my parents, and myself just spent a 3-night, 4-day weekend at “The Cottage” which is owned and rented by Jan and Bruce of “The Artist’s Inn and Gallery” in Terre Hill, Pa.
It was wonderful to arrive at “The Cottage” and find home baked cookies and scones supplied by Jan; also, milk, eggs, juice, and other surprises in the frig. This is just a beautiful and relaxing place to be. At first, the four of us wondered if we would be bored at the end of four days, Thursday through Sunday. To the contrary, on the day of our departure, we all agreed we could have used another day or two. I took morning walks with my father and wandered the gardens of the cottage and also the Artist’s Inn (which I highly suggest – notice the amazing and odd flowers on the left as you proceed down the walk. They are appropriately named “Love in a Mist”). We grilled, cooked, shopped, played games, enjoyed the magnificent scenery, and had long talks while relaxing on the porch.
Actual statements made by my family members as they describe the weekend include:
“The place was so tranquil, and so relaxing.” – my father, who finds it extremely difficult to relax. He is 82 years old, still works full time, and brought office work with him, which he never touched!
“I noticed that when I was driving somewhere on Monday, my right hand was lying palm open and very relaxed on my lap. My hands are usually clenched around the steering wheel.” – my mother
“This was the best vacation I’ve ever had!” – my husband, who is a teacher of middle school students and very much needed some down time
My statement is “When are we going again?”
Thanks Jan and Bruce!

Wanting to get away from the Jersey shore again, my wife Janet and I visit the Lancaster area normally twice a year. Through Jans newletters and after our seven stays at the Artists Inn, we have seen the cottage go through the transformation that Jan and Bruce have put so much into. This visit, we were arriving with two other couples. We decided to book the Stone Cottage for this two night stay. Needless to say, our stay at the cottage was just perfect. The warm & cozy feeling you get when you arrive can't be put into words. Jan does such a great job to make you feel comfortable for your stay (the homemade cookies & scones really help too, lol). We will be returning to the Cottage in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Lancaster area.
