The Chatelaine Bed and Breakfast

Sitting Room
The Guests' Sitting Room is a shell of soft color filled with deep sofas, enveloping chairs, and luxurious hassocks. The western window is a frame for nature's masterpiece, a flaming sunset softened by lacy evergreen boughs. Accents within the room itself are lovely objects in clear and beautiful shades of Garnet, Persian Blue and Belleek Pink, each one worthy of a page in a book. Guests often say they must return again and again to really focus on all the delightful "things." Though formal and dignified, the room makes "manners" a pleasure.

Dining Room
The adjoining Dining Room, with its strongly patterned paper, is a frame for the heirloom furnishings which showcase a vast collection of china and accessories for the breakfast feast. Though the repertoire of menus is varied, the changing china settings help to create a unique morning experience. A handmade shell-topped Corner Cupboard holds court, but another large Cabinet houses delightful choices for the lucky guest who often gets to choose the china of the day. The centerpiece is usually a walnut tiered stand holding part of our assortment of eggcups, ranging from a ceramic tuxedo egg, to yellow pottery chicks, or a silver chick and wishbone holding its own cracked eggshell. Whimsey prevails at the Chatelaine and breakfast is fanciful, lighthearted and gay.

The Swan Room
The light and airy Swan Room basks in the glow of the evening sunset and bows to mountain greenery to the south. A rare brass King-sized Canopy Bed (one of only 50 made) is the focal point with its companion, an ebonized Victorian Cabinet, holding court over other mahogany furnishings. A deeply comfortable loveseat and hassock and a batwing chair invite guests to view the Grand Mantel fireplace whose details match the shell-carved corner cupboard holding our swan memorabilia. The en suite bath makes this room the premier-space of the Chatelaine's offerings. A new feature is a coffee table/desk for business travelers utilizing our new High Speed Wireless Internet access, or great for wine, cheese and other snacks

The Pink Belleek Room offers dusky-rose Oriental Carpets beneath a French Bombe Secretary and an Italian Vitrine filled with blushing Irish porcelain. The King-sized headboard is white-glazed Victorian fencing, and garden Dolphins serve as bedside stands in a cloudy shell of blue. Luxurious chairs direct your gaze to the standing Birdcage encrusted with polychrome metal flowers; while the private hall bath features a Lavender Art-Glass "window," a colorful remnant from a regional gothic church.
