Nestled in the middle of Philadelphia, in a section known as University City, a residential area developed around the turn of the last century. Guests are taken back to the beauty of the Victorian era while at the same time enjoying the 21st century comforts of new bathrooms, cable television, internet access and much more. And we are conveniently located - The University of Pennsylvania, The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and Drexel University are all nearby.
The guests at The Gables Bed & Breakfast in Philadelphia are often found sitting on the magnificent wrap-around porch or in the garden reading the morning paper or perhaps a good book selected from the many available throughout the house. The yard with its ever blooming perennial garden is a favorite spot shaded by a stately old Norway maple and blossoming dogwood, Japanese cherry, crab apple and magnolia.
The home features natural chestnut and cherry woodwork throughout the first floor parlors, dining room, and entrance foyer. Each room has oak floors with remarkable inlay of mahogany, ash, and cherry. Deep rich gemstone colors have been chosen for the walls to accentuate the woodwork. Some rooms are finely adorned with true Victorian stenciling, others with exquisite period wallpaper. An extensive collection of fine antique furniture from the late 19th century, plush oriental carpets, and minute detailing create a rich treasure for the eye in each room of the house.
The owners and innkeepers Don Caskey and Warren Cederholm are dedicated to making your stay in their home as comfortable and gracious as you might expect when you step back into the era of Victorian Splendor. |

We accept check in from noon to 10 PM however, the time must be prearranged as we may not necessarily be home all day and we do not have a front desk. |

Cancellation Policy: |
We require at least 48 hours notice of cancellation or the entire stay will be charged minus any nights that we are not able to rebook. At certain peak times a week or even a month may be required; you are informed as to the length of the cancellation period at the time of reserving the room. |

Oscar is our 4 year old black miniature poodle. He greets all the guests as they check in. We have fortunately trained him not to beg at the table so please don't pass him any treats. We have a poodle since they are non allergenic and Don has respiratory problems set off by pet dander and smoke. |
