Experience casual elegance at the Hartzell House bed and breakfast located in Addison, PA, near Fallingwater and Deep Creek Lake where guests feel like treasured friends.
Unwind. Rejuvenate. Prepare yourself to marvel at the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright as you tour Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob . Get ready for the excitement of the ski slopes at Wisp or Seven Springs. Experience the spa and world-class golf at Nemacolin Woodlands. Bike the Rails to Trails, or raft the rapids of the Yough and Cheat rivers. Fish or boat at Deep Creek Lake. Enjoy the abundant national and local history that surrounds us. Uncover a treasure at River's Edge Antiques or another of the diverse shops in our neighborly tri-state area. Enjoy the area's many festivals, historic reenactments, and auctions. Adventure and atmosphere abound year-round in scenic Laurel Highlands.
Come in, sink into the plush sofa, and enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of Fair-Trade coffee, or enjoy a game of pool on the vintage style table.
The Hartzell House West Wing is a handsome example of Carpenter Gothic Victorian architecture, with three comfortably appointed guest rooms and common areas that boast furnishings designed to pamper the discerning guest. Built c1870 by Judson Hartzell, the original structure has been carefully renovated to retain the style of the era while enhancing your measure of environmental comfort.
The new East Wing has a unique flair of its own. While blending quite nicely with the original 1870 structure, it gives a nod to the Craftsman era with its Bungalow inspired interiors. The common area houses a fireplace, built-in bookcases, leather couch, upholstered armchairs, a large satellite TV, and a game-table that is serving as our breakfast area until we have the new Great Room open in late 2009. There is a small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave for guest convenience. The East Wing is home to 3 guest accommodations, fully equipped with amenities designed to satisfy the discriminating traveler.

Most evenings our guests are invited to enjoy a reception of hors d' ouvres and beverages. We generally offer local and seasonal beers, fine wines, and alcohol-free beverages that complement a fine selection of gourmet treats for those who prefer not to dine out.
Mornings here are unhurried, and the breakfast schedule and menu are determined by your request. Guests receive menu cards upon arrival and select from a variety of options for the following day's fare and dining times. We love to cater to individual dietary requirements and preferences, so please let us know your specifics at least 48 hours in advance of your stay, and we will gladly meet them! We love culinary challenges!
In addition to our made to order fare, our breakfast buffet usually includes seasonal fruit, granola, and wonderful Middle-eastern yogurt you may sweeten to taste with local honey.

We were so delighted to discover the joys of Hartzell house! As Kitty took us on a tour I felt myself becoming more relaxed and a lttle smug as we realized that this was an amazing gem tucked away in a small and quiet town. We couldn't have been more comfortable and our daughter was also given special treatment.
Kitty and David have perfected the art of being perfect B and B hosts- never intrusive yet always available. All the little details to provide comforts both of home and away were disreetly provided. What a wonderful few days!

The place is delightful in every way: big spacious common room with really comfortable couches and seats, little trays with various chocolates in them around the house, knowledgeable and friendly hosts, very clean but not sterile, delicious breakfast options, great supply of games, books, magazines, movies and CDs.

Excellent from the minute I walked in the door to the minute I pulled out of the parking lot. Kitty and Dave have the B&B thing nailed. Clean, comfortable accomodations, gourmet breakfasts, attentive but not intrusive hosts, in a quiet little town that is central to many of the Laurel Highlands top attractions. Needed a long week as a mental health getaway and that's exactly what I got. Hated to leave. I now have two new friends and plan to visit on a regular basis. 5 stars are not enough for a rating!

Absolutely wonderful!! The Patriot's Suite exceeded my expectations a hundred-fold. Kitty and Dave were great hosts and this felt like "coming home". Planning on coming back soon with a couple girlfriends for a girls' weekend. Would recommend Hartzell House to anyone who likes being spoiled and eating the best breakfasts ever!! This B&B will be a huge success in the future.

I have stayed at numerous Bed & Breakfasts throughout the Northeastern U.S. over the past 5 years and Hartzell House is among the top percentage in every category. Kitty and Dave have created a beautiful B&B from an older Victorian home. The home is extremely well decorated and very comfortable. The breakfasts were among the best we have ever had at a B&B. The Hartzell House is in a perfect location to enjoy the best of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands.

The Hartzell House had the warm, friendly, cozy, and accomodating feeling that we were hoping to find. The owners were wonderful and thoughtful, taking the time to accommodate us with anything that we may have needed. A great's night sleep in a comfortable bed, with excellent breakfast.

We were very impressed visually, with the level of architectural details and the decor and wall finishes. We were very impressed with the efforts by both Kathryn and David to make us feel comfortable and to accomodate our needs in every way, including adjusting recipes to meet dietary restrictions, and waking up at the crack of dawn to feed us before we went to Fallingwater for an early tour. Nothing was too much for them. It was a very enjoyable stay for us.

A Wonderful experience. Hartzell House is located on a quiet street in Addison, PA. and features beautifully appointed CLEAN rooms with very comfortable beds. The innkeepers Kitty and David were very accomodating to our comfort and dietary needs and treated us like special guests in their beautiful, very tastefully appointed home. The delicious gourmet breakfasts featured fresh home-made pastries which by themselves are worth the price of admission. The room was warm and romantic. Hartzell House is close to many area attractions such as Falling Water, Kentuck Knob, Fort Necessity, and Ohiopyle State Park. If you are considering a visit to any of these attractions in the beautiful Laurel Highlands, treat yourself to a stay at Hartzell House Bed and Breakfast.
