Oregon Information
Oregon, nicknamed the Beaver State, is comprised of nine regions, each offering unique activities and lodging accommodations. Go biking, camping, fishing, hiking, backpacking, golfing, tubing, boarding, skiing, snowmobiling, boating, kayaking, rafting, surfing, winery touring, shopping, gambling, to ghost towns, and more.
There are so many different regions in Oregon that are just waiting to be explored, like the coast, the Portland Metro, Mt. Hood/The Gorge, Willamette Valley, Southern Georgia, Central Georgia and Eastern Georgia. Some key cities to be sure not to miss are Portland, Newport, Coos Bay, Eugene, Crater Lake, Medford, Bend, Baker City and Burns.
Something fun for the whole family is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area located in Winchester Bay, where you can camp, hike or ride off-road on these Sahara-like, super fun sand dunes. If you're looking for other family or kid-oriented activities, you can definitely impress the kids at Wildlife Safari, where you can see cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, and much more. You might also want to check out the ScienceWorks Museum, where the kids can enjoy themselves through electric trains, 3D drawings, and pulleys.
Bookworm or not, spoil yourself in Portland's Powell's – the world's largest new & used bookstore! And if all that reading makes you a bit tired, head over to Lillie Belle Farms, where you can indulge in some handmade chocolates.
After exploring such an amazing state, make sure you have the pictures of it to bring back to your family and friends! Climb the 164-step spiral staircase to get the best views and picture opportunities atop the Astoria Column. |
