"Stiff", formal atmosphere (rules, rules, rules) made us uncomfortable from the first minute and sorry we didn't check it out further before we went. Did not eat breakfast or any snacks. Spent all day away till late evening and spent rest of the time in our room. Expected much more relaxed atmosphere like we found in Key West. Instead, we were treated like children and spent the weekend sadly disappointed. Have no intentions of going back.

Response I am sorry that the Millers expected Key West on Kelleys Island. The anonymity and party atmosphere of Key West is a unique environment, while our B&B home is friendly, personal and in a Mid-West community. The few "rules" we have are only to suggest courtesy and respect. When they first arrived I felt their uneasiness, but we were friendly, polite, courteous and tried to be helpful with suggestions on island activities and points of interest. Breakfast is an important feature where guests eat together on the front porch, get acquainted and enjoy the breakfast and our hospitality. The Millers never came to breakfast nor did they tell us in advance that they were not going to be there. Fortunately, bed & breakfast establishments are as varied as their owners, and the Millers will surely find other places to stay where they are more comfortable. I appreciate their comments and will be more sensitive when I think the guests might be uncomfortable in our home. Thanks, also, to the many other positive posts on this sight as well as 12 years of happy B&B-ing for us and our guests.

The owners were very kind and helpful in pointing us in the directions of the various activities to do on the island. They were genuinely interested in our lives. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were lovely, and the house was exactly the right temperature. The Campbells went out of their way to make sure every detail of the rooms, meals, snacks, and overall environment was attended to and comfortable. I love that the Campbells provided bikes for the guests use. I am extremely satisfied with our experience.

The room was lovely -- what impressed me was that June had considered all the "extras" -- basket with wine glasses and cheese plate for "sundowners"; guest fridge; loads of extras in the bathrooms - not to mention the gourmet breakfast. Just as they promised, the sunset view was spectacular! Everything about our visit was PERFECT! We sat and talked with the other two couples at breakfast for nearly 2 hours. We were looking for a quiet, pampered getaway, and we got all that and more! We will definitely go back again -- maybe even in the next month!

Campbell Cottage Bed & BreakfastBrian4.506/17/2006The innkeepers were so hospitable, arriving at our car as we pulled up for an immediate inn tour and bringing freshly baked cookies out to us as we unwound from the drive on the porch overlooking Lake Erie. The serenity of the inn was fantastic, only broken long enough to have an interesting conversation about the history of the inn or the island. The inn is close enough to "downtown" to ride your bike there, but far enough away to keep away the noisy bar folks. There is excellent views of the Lake, and the freedom to simply relax and make yourself at home. We highly recommend this inn!

They just don't treat you like strangers. June makes the best breakfasts we have ever eaten in our lives! Both June & Bill are full of knowledge about anything to do with all the Lake Erie islands. We would like to make a yearly tradition our trip to the Campbell Cottage.

The amount of local insight they give is interesting, and they encourage you to get to know them and your fellow guests. The location is beautiful, the grounds VERY well-landscaped, and the house is well-kept with comfortable rooms. The hospitality is top-rate and we will be back!!!!
