Big Mill sits on 200 acres of land and forest overlooking landscaped grounds and lakes. Activities like fishing or relaxing make the inn a great location for a romantic getaway or quiet retreat.

Landscaped gardens and extensive woodlands make outstanding scenery for walks and birding. Nearby attractions include canoeing, fly fishing, civil war re-enactment, horse shows or rodeos. In addition, it is just minutes from the Roanoke River Wildlife Refuge. If you're visiting East Carolina University or the Bob Martin Agricultural Center, Big Mill is just a short drive away.

We offer a choice of four guest rooms or suites and one long term unit. All have private entrances, and individual climate control. We offer spa services and catered dinners.

This idealized retreat has countryside right outside your door.

We have been waiting for a few years to be able to head from our home in northwestern MD to eastern NC for a relaxing weekend (our daughter graduated from High Point University in central NC in '10 - too, too far away from Williamston!). We were NOT disappointed! Chloe welcomed us at the front porch and we fell in love with her immediately. She is everything that an innkeeper should be - kind, giving, generous, warm, gracious, there when you need her but out of sight most of the time (except when we would see her running breakfast trays to all the rooms in the early evening!), full of fascinating stories and just an all around phenomenal woman! Her B&B is everything we were looking for - after a crazy few weeks at work, my husband was able to get Friday off for a long weekend trip, so I made reservations - The Mardi Gras Suite was the only room left -and we were not disappointed. He had computer work to do over the weekend, so the cafe table was perfect for his laptop. We happened to go on one of the most heat oppressive weekends (heat index over 110 degrees!) we had ever experienced, so we spent most of our time enjoying our suite. The beds were SO comfortable, the pine floor in the bedroom was gorgeous and the shiny brick floor in the living room was just so interesting and cool (why did I bring my slippers?), nothing like well water for a nice cool shower, the wall decorations and wall paintings were a special touch, the chaise was perfect to read my KINDLE in, and the table, chairs and umbrella and then the small memorial pond and hanging wicker loveseat right outside our French doors were just so special to look at (too hot to enjoy breakfast outside each morning). We don't know why Chloe calls her breakfasts "continental plus," as they were fruit skewers, sweet breads, two kinds of quiche, and fresh juice and milk each morning -so very filling that we didn't eat lunch each afternoon. We spent one evening after dinner in town, walking all around the spectacular grounds; we saw the outbuildings where the other rooms are, we saw Chloe's flower and vegetable gardens, we were fascinated by the cotton fields next door, the lake was beautiful, the hammock looked inviting if not for the heat (!), all the metal geckos climbing the building walls were adorable as were the "whirlygigs" placed around the grounds, and her brother lives across the road and he has done up his grounds in the most unbelievably stunning way - and all are welcome to go over there and walk around and take pictures! We took a total of 400 pictures while at Big Mill and all around Williamston, so I can't wait to start scrapbooking! We have stayed at luxurious inns all over New England, but we will take an enjoyable looooong weekend (at least 3 nights next time!!) at Big Mill over those stuffy inns any day! I got a quick chance to meet her 18 year old precious cat named Moses - she gave me a "meow" as soon as I started talking to her (Yes, "she" is a "she")!! I just wanted to take her home!! All the flowers and vines growing everywhere were a beautiful touch, as were the white Christmas lights we saw around the place at night (esp the large star on the wall of one of the other buildings)!! Last but not least, I thought this was so cute and so inviting - Chloe had an Italian chef holding a chalkboard (about 3-4' tall) right outside her front door, and on it, she had a written welcome for every person/couple staying at the B&B that weekend. We saw that before we even met Chloe and knew right away that she was going to be OUR kind of an innkeeper! We can't wait for our next visit as Big Mill B&B and Chloe are now our favorites. Take care Chloe and Moses!!! :-) Joe and Gayle Gaithersburg, MD Overall: Outstanding!Outstanding!Outstanding!Outstanding!Outstanding! Big Mill Inn is a great place for some R&R! This was my second trip to the Inn and again I have absolutely no complaints. I love how Chloe hand delivers the breakfast the night before on this cute oval tray so that you can sleep in and eat breakfast whenever you want. It is always more than enough food and her cooking is great! The grounds are gorgeous and so peaceful. This is one of my favorite spots in North Carolina. Oh, I don't want to forget to mention that the rates are so economical especially for the quality of the Inn.

The Big Mill Bed & Breakfast in Williamston, NC is the first B&B I have stayed out in probably 5 years. I wasn't there 5 minutes when I began to wonder why it took me so long to try it again. I have had nothing but great experiences in the past but Big Mill's owner Chloe Tuttle has done an outstanding job and puts the others to shame. The property is beautiful and serene. Chloe's touch is evident in every detail...which by the way are too many to name. No exaggeration, she misses nothing. You absolutely cannot go wrong with a stay at Big mill. I had only one regret and that was that I used this property as a stopover when it should have been my destination. Tom Donahue, Cape May Court House, New Jersey

Big Mill Bed & Breakfast is a magical place and has the power to restore your soul! I visited the location during a time of loss and sadness in my life and I felt the sorrow seem to mellow and lift away. I am already planning my next visit to share this wonderland with my daughter. I hope I will have many opportunities to return over the years to my "home away from home".

My wife and I visit three or more bed & breakfast Inns every year. Undoubtedly this is the nicest Bed & Breakfast we have every visited. From the time we pulled into the drive to the time we had to leave, we enjoyed every minute of our stay! The large ponds and farm grounds provided a great place to explore and the open area of the barn gave a great place to hand out and enjoy a cozy fire in the fireplace. Our room was the perfect mixture of comfort with original features from the barn kept in the design. Beautiful, historic and with all the modern comforts of home! The wonderful breakfast was provided in a way that met our schedule allowing us to sleep in late after enjoying a late night at the Carolina Country Stampede in Williamston, N.C. We already have reservations for a return visit!

What a wonderful place! Chloe's hospitality was exceptional, even down to putting air in our tires for us when we unexpectedly found a low tire alarm and no air at the gas stations in town. She's prepared for anything! A great cook too! I'm even recommending the inn for my son's upcoming honeymoon...

Big Mill is truly an oasis in the midst of rural N.C. Our rooms are comfortable, creatively and tastefully decorated. What's not to like??...the wonderful view of the ponds, bridges and long needle pines, the birds singing or the lulling sound of rainfall on the tin roof, the delicious and nutritious breakfasts, the snuggly warm quilts and crisp sheets and best of all the warm and welcoming hospitality of the Innkeeper.

Response
thank you so much...I love being an innkeeper and guests who love Big Mill warm my heart.

Holy smokes! What a great place to visit and stay for a few days! Can't wait to come back! Lots of privacy, great suites, very clean, not expensive and lots of places to just walk and think and chill out. No stress at Big Mill and easy drive down from Virginia. I will be back to this one.
