The Island House Bed & Breakfast is located in the old fishing village of Wanchese, on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. The inn takes you to the location of a small community that is quaint, unique and close to the beautiful Nags Head beaches, lighthouses, saltwater fishing, boating, state parks and great shopping. Roanoke Island has many interesting attractions of its own... North Carolina Aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens, Elizabeth II Historic Center, Festival Park, Fort Raleigh Historic Site, Lost Colony and the Wanchese Industrial Fishing Center. Roanoke Island also has some of the best restaurants and unique shopping on the outer banks.

Days at Island House begin with an appetizing southern style buffet breakfast served daily in the dining room which includes fresh fruits, yogurts, assorted juices, tea & coffee, in addition we serve 1 of the following hot entrees: pancakes, waffles, French toast, various egg recipes, hot fruit compotes, sausage gravy, southern style grits accompanied by bacon, sausage links or ham. After that, the choice is yours. The area's many attractions may capture your fancy but lounging around the house is not without its own appeal. There is an outside gazebo and nags head hammock swing, beautiful flower gardens and large yard to enjoy nature’s wonders and smells. There is a guest pantry open 24 hours a day for our guests' convenience. There are 3 rooms and 1 suite at the B&B. All the rooms are decorated with antiques and offer private baths, color cable televisions, radios, DVD/VCR player and central air conditioning. We provide beach towels, chairs and beach umbrellas for our guests.

The Island House is a quaint, quiet, and unique romantic retreat which provides a smoke free adult atmosphere, although, smoking is permitted outside on the porch.

This is a wonderful oasis to go to after a day exploring the surrounding area. Not to expensive, no noise of the main stream traffic like at a hotel. The hosts are very genteel and gracious. I will be back and I will tell all my friends about this wonderfully quiet getaway!!!

Jeanne and Roy were wonderful hosts and treated us as members of their extended family. Our room was very nice (my wife loved the pink accents and antique furniture), and the common rooms were filled with interesting antiques. All in all, a wonderful stay. Thanks!

Very, very comfortable, the breakfasts were so delicious! The innkeepers are so very pleasant and very informative. They are very well gounded and established in their area - very knowledgeable! Our second time back there and plan on going again and again and again!

My first time in a B&B; wonderful experience!

The hosts were great - they have thought of everything from games and videos to a supply of sundries. The beds are very comfortable, and the breakfasts are bountiful and delicious. Being in a small town, the surroundings are peaceful, but there are good places to eat and interesting things to see nearby. Highly recommended!

Location is a bit out of the way; but, still close to activities in Manteo and Nags Head. We found Roy & Jeane to be excellent hosts that spent considerable time at breakfast sitting down with us and just talking. They also made suggestions on where to go and where to eat. This was a very nice B&B and we have stayed in quite a few on the East Coast.
