The Living Room

Welcome! The Duck Smith House is a 1914 Farmhouse which was once a 50 acre tobacco farm. The house was purchase in November 2005 from the previous innkeeper and completely renovated to a charming house that it is today. The four bedrooms all have new furniture, pillow-top/memory foam mattress with matching comforters and curtains. Each room has a private bath and the house is wireless.

The Breakfast Room

This bright room is one of our favorites which has four tables with fine China and crystal and tablecloths of lace. Our breakfast is a full gourmet meal which could be Stuffed French Toast or one day Blueberry Pancakes. You will not go away hungry. We promise.

History of The Duck Smith House

Built in 1914 by William "Lola" Trogden this beautiful old farmhouse stood overlooking 50 acres in what is now the heart of hand-made pottery country. In the mid 1920s the house was rented to the Hayworth Duckery "Duck" Smith family. Mr. Smith was a colorful character known for his participation in local politics of the time, and for always wearing a bow tie and white shirt while working his regular job as the janitor for the Seagrove school.

The Carolina Room

This first floor room features a king size bed with new pillow-top/memory foam mattress. There are four windows in this spacious room which is on the first floor and is handicap accessible. Private bathroom features a stall/one bench shower. This is also our pet friendly room.

Bertie's Room

The second floor queen size bedroom was named after our mother who liked lace and satiny things. There are non-working fireplaces in the bedroom and bathroom which add to the charm. The bathroom has a tub/shower.

The Waverly Room

Located on the second floor, this room features two full size beds for those who like their own bed. With four windows, this room is large and bright. The bathroom features a large two bench shower.

The Summit

On the second floor down the hall from the other rooms makes this queen size bedroom ideal for those who want privacy. If you look out the window you can see the tobacco barns and log cabin. Very restful room.
